After converting it from a 3 speed to a 4 speed. Next is to measure the distance of the the front and rear flanges and have the drive axles shorten and lengthen. Also bought a set of new universal joints to have them installed.

After the trans install I started on the front brake disc brake conversion.
I had kept the front and rear axles from my FJ60 that was t- boned last year.
The knuckles, birfield’s, and the rotors came in handy to do the job.
I bought a knuckle rebuild kit from @orangefj45 and went to work on the conversion.
I just got it done.

I have a new steering column firewall gasket and read that you need to remove the whole shaft and steering box. Which also inludes removing the turn signal and the three speed linkage and shifter.
I was going to eliminate the linkage anyways so no time like the present to do this.
I Removed all the linkage and set it aside.
Got the steering box out and began to degrease the unit. Lots of crud and mud and oil.

Did some cleaning of the firewall with some CLR and 00 steel wool.
I’d say it works pretty darn well.
Removed more of the drivers side equipment to make room for more thorough cleaning.

So a few updates on the 40 series.
I ordered from @Cruiseroutfitters new Diff. & transfer case Flanges, oil slinger and seals.
Screwed up one of the two seal I bought so need to order a replacement.

Kinda of had a oh sh** moment when the pinion gear slid in ward while I installing that new flange. Luckily reached out to the forum and was told how to do it. And worked out perfect.
Also ordered some 74 drive shafts from @classiccruisers and had them sent to a local driveshaft place and having new universal joints installed and balanced.

Your stainless shifter bolt needs to be longer for that nylok nut to have a locking effect.
