Thanks again for the kind words. I realize that this may start to get boring looking at about the same type of picture. To some, this will give you some idea of the scope of any 45lv body restoration. Hopefully it is helpful to someone. I have to believe that all lv's suffer from the same problems. I don't think there are any tricks, just a lot of time. I can't help remembering reading a post from gumby that said most restorations end up in pieces unfinished. I want to finish this some day....

I'm a believer in factory corrosion coatings before all the later rust drama ensues. Interestingly, re-looking at that video it appears that the huge robot arms dunking that VW into the bath, itself doesn't appear to get coated with the corrosion material like the car body. Either the arms are somehow impervious to the coating, or the car body is electrically charged and the arms insulated to the charge. Thoughts?

If it's the same as euro-spec factory priming then the car is charged as per electroplating.
 
I didn't take as many pictures. The bolt was siezed in this mount. The crossmember is double wall here, so cut it open. Made a new captive tapped plate and cushion. Snuck it in and welded the spot welds up and closed the hole.
