You are right, with a caliper it's 3/8...upside down with a tape measure it's a little off and I rounded up.

You might want to ensure that you get something above Grade 5 for this purpose, unless you are using more than 3 per side (the Slee uses 2 U bolts on the passenger side and a plate that bolts to the frame behind the cat converter and 3 U bolts on the driver side).

Added complexity. Fastenal wants me to travel to friggin' China to pick up the U-bolt at their store there, based on my APO address.

Grainger just doesn't adequately describe the U-bolts they offer in their on-line catalog.

I thought my hobby was maintaining a Landcruiser. Turns out my hobby is searching on the internet.

4x4labs sells sliders in kit form, and through my dealings with him I wouldn't be surprised if he could accomodate your shipping requirements. Don't want to speak for him, but it wouldn't surprise me.

The Cat protection was tough to get assembled correctly, but I think someone with more fabricating experience than I wouldn't have had issue.

Though I can't remember if your rig is 1FZ or 3FE.

Trail gear sliders. Weld to frame. If you need to remove them, sawzall. Ubolts add complexity and will probably make your welder buddy unhappy as they require more work to set up properly than simply welding something onto the truck.

BTDT.

I'm a 1FZ-FE with a low profile cat.

Can't weld to frame. If I do, I get to part out my vehicle as a wrecked vehicle.

Also can't find anyone selling Trail Gear who will deal with APO system.

Sawzall them off, grind down what's left and spray paint. They will leave no evidence and the frame will be unharmed.

Getting someone to ship may be a challenge, but I'd guess there's a vendor out there who will do it (there are 100's of TG vendors).

You might also check with @LandCruiserPhil to see if his Rock Rails are still available. Not really a slider but will give you some protection, are bolt on, and are low enough profile that you may not need to remove them at all. Also very light weight so shipping may be more reasonable.

I'm very curious as to why Germany does not allow sliders? I thought the commies lost the Cold War? What's next, their guns? Oh wait.......

Because of ze rules!

Seriously, German law is amazingly stupid some times. You cannot have an aftermarket bumper UNLESS you have a winch. Once you mount a winch on it, it ceases to be a bumper and is now a "winch mount" which is perfectly legal.

120mm, if the Summit deal fails, get an inbound soldier (PCSing to your location) to put a set in his house hold goods shipment. Any of the unit admin's should be able to help you contact an inbound soldier. Just a thought. Let UNCLE pay the shipping.

I did so! Thanks. I'm not sure what my thoughts are on those, but lighter, less obtrusive and still useful sound nice.

Buy a set of @LandCruiserPhil sliders and just be little careful.

Not sure if you will find any sliders that will be able to take a direct hit from Dolomite without crumpling though:

I'm sorry I have nothing useful to add but @ 1:00 is solid gold!

TG sliders look great, I first saw them on @Box Rocket build thread. Maybe if you deliver the u/bolts plate for the brackets, TG sliders and some square tubing Mr. MIG will play along. Maybe get him a notching tool too so he has less to cry about? And a magnetic angle finder so they're level and kicked up at matching angles side to side...
