FWIW, that truck (if it's that seafoam color) has been there as long as I have (10+ years) and several people have tried to coerce it away from the owner but no joy.

That's the one. It's also been there as long as I can remember. And that's saying something!

Jon: I'll snap some pics of what I'm needing to replace.

They must not like you Jon :p I've walked that yard many times (though not it the past 2 years) and pulled axles and seats on my own. I did let them pull the 4.3 I bought, tho. :)

Also, as far as All Mini Trucks. My experience there has been hot and cold. Many years ago I was looking for knuckle parts and the guy would only sell complete axles. I did get my R151F there, and I think the deal was fair. I was able to haggle with the guy a bit and the fella that pulled the tranny tossed in the transfer case. It's interesting that they will let you pull your own parts. They have been reluctant in the past to even let you walk the yard. How are their prices compared to the U-Pull?

When I was there I needed 4Runner headrest and the guy said go out and look around and had no problem with me looking around for a bit. I haven't pulled anything as large as an axle though. How that place is set up you could pull your parts and never end up talking to anyone. Only one other guy was there when I was going over cars; its very laid back and mellow compared to U-Pull. I would probably just ask before pulling something big, but at the same time their business is parting stuff out. Who knows.

Bummer on that FJ45 it would be awesome if who ever owns would let it go. It is only going to rust out and no one will want it. Are there any other places besides the place on Central that sells old land cruisers?

Not particularly. Occasionally one will pop up at a used car lot, but for the most part you're looking in the classifieds (ebay, craigslist, paper, autotrader, MUD, etc...) to find one for sale. Especially the less common types. mk818's place on Central is a fluke, I don't know of any others in the US really, unless you consider SOR, TLC and whatnot similar.

Jon: here's the idler bit I'm looking for. It has a 12mm post (the unthreaded portion), although where it fits through the slot in the bracket it could be 13mm. The adjusting bolt is an M8.

If I can find that, I'm golden on the rest of it.

I think I have what you need. Can you measure the unthreaded part of the post? Like I said, my AC idlers were 12mm id. Do you need what you posted, or the pulley, or both?

That sure looks right.

After I get back from recurrent training all this week I can stop by to check. The only thing I need is the post, as long as the adjusting bolt fits.

Excellent, Dad's 40 might get to keep it's power steering after all! (who am I kidding, I'll make it work somehow ;) )

I have a second option too. I just pulled what look close.

FJ60 Parts Vehicle

I found this on CL today. I am working my FJ40 so it can have PS and I want to use a FJ60 Power Steering Unit. By no means I am looking to buy the entire vehicle just for that one part. What I was thinking before I contact the guy and say I want the PS unit (he doesn't want to part it out) is post it up and see if anyone wants to buy the truck and then I would by the PS unit from whomever buys it so everyone is happy. Just an idea.

I can make it simpler. I have an '85 FJ60 I'm parting out. I'll sell you the power steering stuff off of my truck. Send me an email/PM.

Colorado U-Pulls

Just letting everyone know who are looking for parts for their Land Cruisers there is a 77 Land Cruiser at the Colorado Springs U-Pull and a 1985 Land Cruiser at the Denver U-Pull. I know it is a drive, but if anyone is in need of something it a long shot, but who knows.

If you get this soon enough ... I'm headed over this morning in about an hour. What vehicles should I look for? Any 6-cyl, or just the V6?

David, i have all the electronic ignition stuff from the FJ60. I was just getting ready to put it all on ebay. block side plate included.

anyone got a dead alternator that I can use as a core? How about POS intake manifold? These core charges are beginning to add up!

I have two that were for the 40. I assume you want one for the 80. One is nice shiny reman (that one is good) I never used, the other i am not sure about. Do the cores have to be the same model?

nah, they can be from any model!

i have a cracked F manifold. already removed. i can bring it when i get the radio.:D

never mind, I won't need the manifold. I decided against buying the whole Intake manifold and just go the parts I needed from the donor car. But I do need a crappy alternator though!
