I hate to post this before I can get over there and pick its bones clean. A little birdie tells me there is a 1991 FJ80 at the U-Pull.

The '91 will have a lot of 3FE parts for you but not many parts in common with the 93-97 trucks.

Exactly.

It will also have a few other desirable bits worth harvesting.

See, I told ya all there was something useful on a FJ80. I don't know when I'm going to have time. Maybe Friday.

I didn't make it to the boneyard yesterday. I went to their website and they are listing a 1976 Land Cruiser. If there is anybody out there needing disk brakes on the front of a 40 or 55 you might want to snag the front axle.

There is plenty from the FJ80 that can be used on the FZJ80. Plenty. Almost 90% of the interior and body stuff is transferable.

Drive train parts--drive shafts, nuts/bolts (always good to have extra hardware). suspension parts.

Anyway, Dan--are you serious about Monday?

Yep. I have to take Dad in to the airport I think fairly early (like midmorning), and I was going to stop by American to chat with Dan, so a jaunt to the junkyard to pick over a '76 (what luck--I have a '76, and need some bits) sounds like a great idea to me.

Why: you need stuff?

Dan

Onur,

the '91 80 is in pristine condition. If you need more interior pieces, I'd go for it. The interior is cloth with manual seats (gone). All front axle bits and some engine are gone. Also, all four hatch/hood lift struts are gone as well. The headliner is in great condition and most of the dash is still intact.

edit: front axle diff, axles, birfs are gone. However, the knuckles and relay/tie rods are still intact. I took all lights except the left headlight which has a perfect lens but the plastic attachments in the back are all broken. If someone has a chipped lense, with an oven you can remove the old lens and install this one.

The '75 is an FF-55. 2F, H42 and T-case are all still there. Booster and master cylinder is still there, as are the dash switches and many interior parts.

Front axle has been removed, but the rear axle is still there. Body is OK. I took the tailgate panel to use on the 40, and it's definitely got a few dents dings, and a bit of rust, but if you need 55 parts, I'd go pour over it.

I also snagged a York (the big York--per beno) and some other bits.

Just down the row from the FJ-80, is an '85 4-runner. Front axle and steering box already taken, but still has a lot there. Including a nearly perfect headliner (left you a voicemail if you wanted it Jon).

Thanks Dan. I'm trying to get off work at noon on Wednesday and will try to get over there. I need a few small things.

All Mini Truck

Besides U-Pull I have had really good luck with All Mini Truck. They have 2 FJ62, the engines are gone, but the bodies are mostly intact. I know several FJ80 are there as well but they are pretty messed up from being in wrecks. And there are a ton of 4Runners there as well. Mostly generation ones, but some twos scattered about. I was able to find some parts for a friend there. The guy in the office doesn't really know his stock so just look around. There is no entrance fee but bring your own tools and there are no lifts or wheel barrows so bring plenty of help.

Potential FJ45 Truck - Field Find
I was in the Tijeras area today and saw a FJ45 Truck in someone's yard. I have no idea if it is for sale or not. I didn't have time to ask. Worth asking though, nearly bought a FJ40 that way when I ran past the guys house and saw it in his backyard. It was off of 337 past the ranger station just a bit on the left hand side. I have seen out there before. From the road it is between a truck and a orange horse trailer.

Glad you guys found this section. :)

That 45swb has been there for a while, and it looks to be in really good shape. I've tried to contact the owner, but no luck from me. It's also on the way to the trail around Cedro Peak, if you ever want to take your 40 on a pretty mild trail.

/back to the thread....

If anyone is at the junkyard and finds an adjustable idler that is centered on the adjusting bolt, and has a 12MM post, grab it. I'll post a pic of what I need.

Why Toyota used an 11MM post on the 3B PS idler I have no idea--it's the ONLY 11MM bearing NSK ever made.

Dan

Dan, I have several idlers. Most of them are AC idlers from FJ60/62s, but they sound like what you are looking for ... they were 12mm post. What are you trying to do?

Also, as far as All Mini Trucks. My experience there has been hot and cold. Many years ago I was looking for knuckle parts and the guy would only sell complete axles. I did get my R151F there, and I think the deal was fair. I was able to haggle with the guy a bit and the fella that pulled the tranny tossed in the transfer case. It's interesting that they will let you pull your own parts. They have been reluctant in the past to even let you walk the yard. How are their prices compared to the U-Pull?
