Small issue yesterday with my sliders..Looks like the Slee Skid Plate wont fit without some cutting. The skid plate has some "boxing" in that area for strength so rather than tear into that we will modify the slider bracket.

Then tonight I got the first start video....

the sweetest sound I'll hear the rest of the week!

OK, so here is the update. Truck is up and running and will be heading to the exhaust shop on Monday for some Mandrel...

After that they will get the motor finished up and then start the re-gearing..

Enjoy:

Man, that 4.7 looks like it belongs in there!! I also love the location of the oil filter on the 4.7 - much easier to get to...

Love when the factory air cleaner is utilized, make for such a cleaner/thought out install.

You get to drive the 70 around while the 80 is in the shop?

Unfortunately No - I had the 70 while Onur delivered the truck to Christo - Amazing truck !!

Your attention to detail is awesome in this build! How is the stinkbug rake with the heavy 2.5 OME that you went with? Ride quality compared to stock?

I hope it is not rude for me to ask this but for those considering this conversion for the future can you or christo give an estimated range of what it would cost to swap in a 100 series motor like this? also, would a conversion like this be feasible or legal in CA with all of our zany smog laws?

I love the idea of the v8 power and keeping it toyota at the same time.

Last time I talked with Christo about doing this vs a diesel swap it started around $25K and that was IF you could get a decent USED motor, if you went the new route close to $40K

Thanks - The rear sits about 1" higher without a full load of camping gear. I do however have a set of ARB Drawers, Tools and other miscellaneous items in the rear.

Ride is very nice.

Guppie -

As Warezdog stated base price starts at around $25K.... I did this differently and certainly more expensive by wanting as close to a new motor as I could get. I utilized a new short block, new OEM coil packs, Compressor, Alternator, Fuel Pressure Regulator and Starter.

I also had Christo send out the heads and have them rebuilt with all new OEM parts. Injectors were sent out, cleaned and flow matched.

With the Slee conversion you get a ton of new OEM parts - They do this right... Basically I have an almost new motor that all I need to do is change oil for the next 100,000 miles. No worries of how or better yet IF the previous owner took care of the rig. I just didn't want those worries.

I've been very pleased with the work thats been done so far.

Best,

John-

Nice!

For the price of the work of Christo and his crew simply can't be beat, I know others do it cheaper but no one does it as clean and proper as Slee does it, hands down.

Boltripper...how are you able to stand it? I would be chomping at the bits to get behind the wheel!! This is a really cool build. I'm really impressed with everything you've done. Congratulations and can't wait to hear your review!

Once it's done, and the motor is broken in, make a video of you getting on it from a stoplight, so all of us in the land of tractor engines can drool over the V8, and its ability to move these tanks! Still loving this thing!
