Needed to replace the old Die Hard with a new Interstate AGM. Cleaned up the wiring and also upgraded my Solenoid on the National Luna Split Charger System.

I had some problems with the unit disconnecting the batteries when the under-hood temp reached 145-150* during the summer months. I also think the truck was putting out more than the 85amps the unit is rated for. I went with the recommended 200 amp Solenoid and all seems good now.

The new battery is in and I cleaned up the wiring a made a few changes:

I also wanted to have the ability to see the Voltage from the rear of the truck when the fridge is running so I added a power werx 12VDC on my rear panel. Anderson Power-pole so I can easily remove the panel.

@LandCruiserPhil was nice enough to collect a nice flush mount unit for the Anderson SB50 plugs. The Trailer Vision setup is straight from Australia and a nice bit of kit.. Installed it so that I can keep shore power on when in the garage and also connect my solar controller to it.

Very nice and clean! What is that extra block connected to the military terminal. That's the part I'm in need of for more real estate of accessories Pwr.

Started having some exhaust leaks due to the "Y" pipe finally giving up the ghost. I had an EMSP Exhaust already on order when I bought the truck and it was time...

This is what I removed and in retrospect I wish I would have kept the original muffler and resonator for a later date swap in...

null_zpsf9bc5105.jpg

And this is what I installed. New EMSP Single CAT system... New OEM O2 Sensors from -Onur- were added as well..

First impressions - Fit and finish A, Sound F.... Inline 6, what did I expect.....

So I started by adding a resonator..

Sound now was maybe a C-... I know, again, what did I expect......

So I decided to buy a TIG machine and start swapping in some larger resonators... Still that drrrroooonnnneeeee.... So finally I just installed a small muffler... What a fiasco... It was like i was :deadhorse:

Sound quality was now a B- and I was done with it.. I figured it would fall apart in a year anyway..

Started gathering parts for my On-Board Air System... Going to run an ExtremeAire High Output under the rear of the truck. It will be configured without an air-tank, switched on the dash.

@NLXTACY and Wits' End sent me some great bits including bulkhead fittings, Parker Parflex Line and some other items. Joey was extremely helpful in getting everything I needed for the project from his side. Even a Friday Night Technical Consult !

Started by getting the bumper mounting holes right sized for the larger buklhead fittings.

Just waiting on the compressor from George so I can get a mounting bracket fabricated and start getting everything connected......

Im waiting on these exact same fitting for Joey, and Im also talking to a mud member/vendor about a new SS exhaust. Your truck is awe inspiring for real.

I know it will sound funny, but I did the mods with the intent to make a well rounded vehicle that supports my hobbies and passions. These being of course: 4x4 vehicles, firearms, camping / long overland trips, Amateur radio and FPV quad-copters.

I wanted the Land Cruiser to be the center around which all my interests were accomplished. So far its been perfect other than the lack of performance that I want in a vehicle making cross-country trips. The suspension modifications are perfect for my area of focus being over-landing and at the most difficult, running passes in and around Ouray / Silverton each year.

Its a perfect rig to camp for extended periods and makes a great base for remote operations. It hauls all my tactical gear to classes all around the country.

The electronic setup with the National Luna Dual Battery and my custom made power distribution give me plenty of USB power for devices along with a great inverter setup that provides me with the ability to run my FPV setup / monitors for my quads, charge my lipo batteries and give me plenty of performance to run my radio gear and have D-Star capable rig to access Icoms gateway anywhere that I can get cell signal. I don't even need access to repeaters.

Basically its my perfect truck.....

I think the new power plant will just enhance my comfort in doing everything I love to do along with giving me even more reliability as I'm running an almost zero mile 2UZFE....... I've got big., but realistic expectations and think Christo and his team have done a wonderful job
what type of quad to you fly?

Really quite inspirational, your attention for detail is bar none. I have gleaned so many ideas, thanks for sharing!

This past weekend was oil change, tire rotation, drive shafts removed for servicing and knuckles greased....... Good for another 5,000 miles

Previously just had the ARB Fridge on the pull out drawer, but the height was still an issue, so I swapped sides with the drawers so the pull out is on the drivers side and then added the Alu-Cab fridge slide... Nice piece of kit and now I have access to the fridge and its contents.

@Boltripper , I just finished reading through your entire thread, very well documented and a lot of good ideas in here. Perhaps I missed it but what transmission did you use behind your 2uz ?

Thanks for the comments.. appreciated

Trans was 100 series 4 speed

Best,

J

I was assuming it had the 4spd. So far, to my knowledge, all of the 2uz swaps have been that way. I'm curious if the non VVTI 2uz from the 03-04 GX would be a good swap candidate as it has a 5spd auto behind it.

Integration of the electronics from the A750F will be difficult as well as the fact that the GX iterations have a different transfer case behind them vs. the 100 series iterations. The transfer case from the GX is more like a 4Runner chain driven transfer case vs. 100 series gear driven similar to the 80 series.

Ideally you want the A750F and transfer case from a 100 series through 2007.

But only came behind the VVTI motors correct ? Of course I have no idea how the trans is controlled on those setups. Whether or not it can be separated from the VVTI and ran behind the non-VVTI engine. Pretty much just spitballing. I know the drivetrain in the wife's GX is brilliant with the 2uz and 5spd. The 120 and 80 have very similar weights from the factory so I can imagine how much better a heavy and properly re-geared 80 would feel with that combination. Regardless, I'm pretty impressed with @Boltripper build thread. Looks to be a very well balanced and thought out rig.
