Joey,

What’s the latest thoughts on ceramic coating the j pipe and down pipe? Any harm in doing so? Any real benefit? Seems so easy to do before install.

(Already coated exhaust manifolds and new heat shields as well as put in new motor mounts last year).;)

It’s not like the Northeast, but I live in a place that gets some snow and sees road salt. How much snow/salt is too much for running your downpipe blanket? Will ceramic coat help the pipe live longer under an occasionally wet blanket? Otherwise I guess I can try building heat shielding in the places the factory had it.

Trying to make decisions for mounting the methanol injection pump on the turbo test mule. It’s all cut, welded and painted so I can install it and get the hoses run and start playing with this bad boy!

Are you mounting the pump where the 2nd battery location would be? I have a 2nd battery so I'm thinking maybe the right rear q panel space for the pump and AEM 5 gal tank with a filler of some sort.

Not that it's really germane to this thread, but I ordered a pile of parts from AWE-JOEY for preventative maintenance while I'm waiting on the turbo to arrive. Blue fan clutch, tune up kit, belts, etc.. Also some parts for my 100.

90% of that order shipped out this morning and thank you!

Bump

@NLXTACY your latest thoughts on downpipe coating and blanket, especially for those that see snow and road salt?

All emails have gone out to all affected by this batch. Tomorrow is going to be a slammed day so I can't promise much of anything will go out tomorrow but likely by Thursday and Friday for sure.

Mine didn't come through either, unless you've just started ignoring me :hillbilly:

How many groups?

Where are you planning on having your injection locations? Just manifold injection or going all out and doing pre-turbo as well?

There are a lot of ideas with regard to water/meth injection. The three most common locations are 1) Pre turbo 2) Post turbo/Pre throttle body 3) Intake manifold. Each has it's own pluses and minuses.

1) Pre-turbo depending on how much water/meth you are spraying you have the worry that you could erode the compressor blades. Because the air has not been heated prior to the injection it does not enthalpate as well, but it does cool the turbo (bigger deal on supercharger than turbo charger)

2) Post turbo/Pre throttle body the air is compressed and hot so the water/meth evaporates and cools quickly, but the air could potentially heat back up slightly in the intake manifold.

3) Intake manifold air is compressed and hot, it is closest to the cylinders so least chance of the air heating back up, but depending on placement you have the concern that you don't get equal cooling of the air.

I choose #2 usually.

Info about water/meth injection is quite few and far between. In the process of installing the kit on my 80 series too so was just curious to what your injection location was. Thanks
