Looking to start a restoration on my 81 bj42. Like all cruisers it has some rust that I have to take care of. I've been looking into steel panels online and have found numerous companies that manufacture them. I want the best panels with the best oem finish as I'm quite particular with how my cruiser will look once it's finished. Im starting with the doors. Any suggestions based on past experience. Thanks.

To my knowledge, body panels don't come in "OEM finishes", they come in raw steel (for welding)...

These aren't like 69 Camaro's...they don't have multiple 3rd party vendors producing steel panels for them. It's more likely that quality donor rigs would need to be utilized.

Aquala does make aluminum tubs and stuff.

BJ42's are sorta rare...you're in Canada I presume? (Sask = Saskatchewan?)

They don't come in OEM finishes. Some come in oily or rusty bare steel, others e-coat, and some with really poorly applied South American primer!

If you're that particular about the quality of your bodywork, than YOU or somebody you trust should be applying the coatings.

I ordered some quarter panels, front fenders and rear wheel wells from Edmonton. Expect to make a lot of adjustments...

I'm not sure what you're looking for. Look at CCOT - cool cruisers of texas. Best reproduction panels for 40 series. I rebuilt my '73 40 tub with their panels. Are you able to do your own welding/fab or are you going to hire out?

Give Lance Williams a call at IronPig Offroad he sells 3 different manufactures of panels and will be able to answer your question . Unless something has changed I think doors are going to be a problem... One of the reason TLC doesn't make a hard top for their ICON's is the doors are not available, but that was a few years ago

I got door bottoms from CCOT, they come in unpainted but well oiled bare steel. The quality appears to be very good. I have an 84 BJ42.
