I talked to them last week. I am waiting on the new case. They said they had some shifting problems with it and were checking into that situation. Nothing since then.

Kris sent me mine yesterday. Mine is now one piece. I like that. One less gasket to leak. Now to get it installed...

I got mine fairly recently also. VERY nice setup especially for those of us with the "beta" version. A LOT more capacity.

I'm still trying to figure out the brass bushings. It sounds like 'pull the front retainer apart to remove the input gear' type things.

Let us know what you find out about them. Hopefully I won't be far behind you...

I asked them about it and got a reply. But without fully pulling the front planetary apart, I'm at a bit of a loss.

I have the Blackbox out of the rig and the rear torn apart.

But, I have a drivetrain that I'm dropping in the second project rig right now... so I'm a few days away from going back to the Blackbox ;)

@Lil'John Did you find out where the brass bushings go? I pulled my blackbox yesterday and will hopefully start putting it together tonight.

Sadly I've been a big slacking dummy ;) I've got the planetary half and the adapter half separated. Otherwise, it is sitting on the work bench while I try to get some other things done.

I understand, it seems there is never a shortage of stuff to do...

I just got off the phone with Kris and he did explain to me the how and why on the bronze bushings. You have to pull the 4 bolts on the front retainer and there will be a couple snap rings to take apart. He said don't forget how the snap rings go in!!! It will pop out of gear, etc if these are not in correctly or forgotton.

The bronze replaces a nylon thrust washer that melts when they get hot...

Hopefully I will get it back together tomorrow morning.

As I took it apart it was pretty obvious were the bronze bushings went and which one went where. Got the blackbox back together this am. Gonna try to sneak out of work and run home today to put the transfer case back onto the blackbox...

Does anyone have any pictures of installing the Gen 1 version with a split case? I have the doubler bolted to my trans, and there is the 3/4" bare aluminum spacer. Mine has the bearing pressed into the spacer, but I bought it used so maybe this is wrong? There is a larger gap, input bearing sized now between the spacer and where the input gear would be. Does the spearing come out of the spacer and reside in the front half of the split case?

@afraptor22 I just closed up my t-case yesterday afternoon. So I can't get you some pics. If I am seeing your pic correctly, that gap is there on the newer blackbox as well. I have a seal there. And then one of the t-case gears seals it up. Could you take a pic from further away? To make sure I am thinking of the same spot.

Mine is still apart... I'll see what I can dig up.

My bad brain says that the stack on the output shaft of the BB is: spacer that came with BB, tcase input gear, spacer, pto gear.

Yup, that should be the order, but that gap means there is nothing for the input gear to seat against so that whole stack would be loose.

does $2400 for a 93 fj80 sound right for this black box, just asking

because i just built a ATLAS on the web site and it was the same price, so now i am questioning what i did wrong to end up at 2400 for the black box. hmmmmmm

Does your 2400 Atlas include adapting to the FJ80? I don't recall any company making Toyota to other transfer cases

Well I had a leak on the blackbox so it had to come out again. I figured I would show you guys so you know.

The new case doesn't seal these set screws off like the old one did. You need to put plenty of thread sealant on them to seal them up.

Here you can see that they just miss sealing..

Par for the course I guess. I was hoping I wouldn't have to take it back out for a while. The whole setup is heavy!! When I called Kris @NWFab he said "goop the s--t out of them"... I'm sure those are technical terms. ;)

Not in the new installation instructions?

this is awesome. I wonder if the black box adapter will fit the A442F transmission in the early 100 series LC's. It has a 19 spline output shaft as shown in the photo below.... Would be a welcome addition to my 98.
