Worked more on the hatch today, what a PITA.

I've spend more time actually figuring out how I am going to fix it then actually doing it. Actually no, prep work takes for ever but then welding is easy.

Start off by cutting bunch of stuff out:

Here, I've redone the middle porting of it already

Unfortunately I couldn't get everything done but the bottom lip is done and dealt with:)

Finished the bottom hatch panel over the weekend. And started to strip down the top hatch, removed the glass out of it.

also mounted the front clip back on to the car, removed roof rack and clean everything up. Put the left doors on.

Need to strip down the roof, finish off the hood and it is ready for bondo:)

It starting to look like a car now:cheers:

Thanks guys. I am talking winter off from this project as it is fearly cold in Canada these days. As I have to do bondo work the tempurature has to be at least above 12C. Don't want to screw it up after all this hard work

Waking up from Canadian winter:)

Well, the weather has been cooperating slightly so we back in the business. I don't think I can do bondo work but I can finish off minor welding stuff

Closed off left rear conner today:

I love it when it comes together:) Finally finished off the rear top hatch. I think it took about 40 hours of work with half of it going into the lip that holds the glass:(

Here it is:

Make sure you have heat high, you welds don't look like they are penetrating on the frame.
Grind a section to see if you have penetration.
Big 'A'Pus for your motivation !!
Impressive
If you want a few welding tips I could swing by one day !

Mac, you know the number. Give me a ring and stop by for a beer:cheers:

The progress goes sooo slow these days. Mostly I am doing the final welding touches, nothing major.

Ok, here are some pictures:

Cleaned up floor. Removed old floor rubber stuff (will replace it with fat mat probably later). Also managed to remove sending unit from the gas tank (all bolt were stripped)

Fitted right front fender (had to redo the rocker panel at the front:( )

Finished of the rear fenders and prime those suckers.

Not sure if you can see it but rear quarter panel (behind the rear tire) is about 3" shorter then stock (it was easier to fix it this way) and it looks all right

Can't wait for this stupid temperature to go above 12C around here, but it looks like I'll have to wait another couple of weeks.

Btw, does anybody know where to get BJ60 diesel level sensor?

For the inside of the fuel tank? should be the same as a gasser, I may have one out of a bj laying around but Really, anything local should be ok.

Nice work man.

You must have the patience of Job, by the time your finished you should be able to weld a pop can!
I thought my truck was a bucket (no offense) you have taken on a hell of a project.
Good work so far!

Great job! Hard to believe this is your first time.

You have me conviced the way to go is to put the body on a rotissery (sp?) and sand blast it. I will be restoring a body some time and really am enjoying watching your adventure. Keep up the good work.
