Yes, I looked at it too. I believe it is far beyond repair. I got one from cruiserparts together with rear inner fenders.

I disagree that rust cannot be repaired. Though I have considered buying a body from from CA but decided to do it this way:

1. I always wanted to build/restore a car and what a better way to do it than to do it on BJ60 in such a condition - what an achievement it would be. Plus I am tired of people telling me it can not be done:)

2. I want to learn as I go through this process - welding, metal work etc

I guess I am attached to this BJ60 and not just to the engine
 
People repair rust all the time in classic cars. Its far from impossible its just with cruisers there so cheap unless you do all the work yourself its much cheaper to start with a clean platform.
But if your doing all the work why not, it looks like a great project.
 
My BJ started out much like yours. It came by way of Lethbridge. But I cheated, chopped up the old body and put a "newer" one on with less rust.

Great to see the effort you are putting into this one. I hate to see a wagon go to waste. No such thing as can't be fixed... Have fun, enjoy. Look forward to the end result.

After that we started to work on what seemed to be like a simple floor pan repair in the left rear corner.... until we cut it open:( My dad has some mad sheet metal skills, most of the stuff in the corner he band out

The metal you are welding in, is it galvanized? If so I hope you are holding your breath while welding.
That stuff is terrible for you and it can really mess up your lungs if you breathe it in.
Good progress so far though.
 
With weather outside being so favoritable I've decided to take a head start on the frame which is sitting on the driveway under the tarp.

I have inspected the frame and figured that all 3 rear cross members need to be replaced. Decided to concentrate on the rear part of the frame for now as I don't want to remove the engine at this time (later when I need to rebuild it).
 
First I've cut out the cross member (one directly behind transmission) and portion of the inside. I had to go cut as much as a foot on each side of the cross member.

Also the whole thing was sanded before paint - what a pita
 
Removed transmission to replace main seal and clutch.... Man the clutch is brand spanking new - not sure where the oil is coming from. I am going to pull out the clutch to make sure it is not a main seal but I really dont thing it is leaking.

So I am puzzled what it is. Any ideas? My best guess is the engine gasket on the passenger side right bellow the manifold (big rectangular one).

You can see in a picture above that someone repaired shock mount tube in the past already but now it is totally dead.

After that I've cut out shock mounts bought new 1 1/4 pipe at hammered it in. Man I though I would have to cut it out as it got stuck half way through

I've decided to close off the rear section - sorry no pictures.

Now re sanded the whole thing and painted

but I've run out of paint:(

Levron, what are you welding with? I'll need to make an equipment choice soon, and just wanted to know how you're doing with your particular setup. I have no welding experience. The frame looks great.

That looks like a good machine. It makes me wonder why it's priced at ~$775, when a millermatic 211 w/ autoset will run a guy around $1,100. This is probably a dumb question, but I don't know much about these things. Is the autoset feature on the miller the expensive part?
