What size tires are those? I bet some aluminum wheels and a smaller radial tire, even a 37”, will save a ton of wear and tear on your axles with the amount you drive that truck.

I have 80 TREs on there already, it should just be plug and play.

Yea each tire is about 165 lbs with the steel wheel and run flats. Aluminium wheels would save me some mpg and gain me some off the line power. I'm running 37 inch tires right now and can't see myself going any smaller. It's worth looking into, but will be expensive.

I think if you could get that down to about 100lbs a corner you would see a drastic improvement in the way the truck drives. Loosing rotating mass is a huge benefit. It would accelerate better, stop better, and steer better. I think you could do this most regular 37" mud tires and an aluminum wheel. I would do this before 6-shooter knuckles.
On a semi-related note you should add gussets to your front axle's knuckle balls if you think you're going to stick with the Toyota stuff for awhile. Cheap insurance to help prevent a bent axle housing.

I have gusseted the knuckleballs years ago. I guess the mud covered up the metal. I'll look for aluminum 17 in wheels and save up for an eventual 6 shooter. Can't overbuild these things.
 
Bummer on the knuckle studs. Also, bummer on roundup and not crossing paths for a photo op, I may have hit the sauce a bit and also broke Bill Stayners volvo/yota thing. Your 60 is my second favorite 60 until mine breaks then its my first favorite.

No worries man, there's always next year. I think we all hit the sauce at Round Up.
 
Weighing my options on the way forward with big red. Leaning towards eventually doing a 6 shooter knuckle and going with aluminum beadlocks to save some weight. Since there aren't any that are 16.5 in wheels, I'm going to need new tires. Since I'm going to need new tires I might as well go bigger.

What's the biggest size tire an SOA FJ62 can go without having to cut into the wheel well and still get some flex with minimal rubbing?

I went with 37s and it’s pushing it at max flex. It also depends on where the axles are placed. My front axle was an inch forward from stock and moved them back an inch after flexing the 60 out due to contact in the front corner of the wheel wells.
 
Final damage, 2 broken studs and loose lug nuts. Check you lug nuts.

On the hunt for 17 in aluminum beadlock wheels.

spacers are on tight. I used to be religious about lug nuts and spacers. I might have to consider green locktite for the lug nuts.

KMC wheel makes a nice aluminum beadlock in 17-inch.

You make a very valid point, it just comes down to me being a child and wanting it zombie apocalypse proof at all times.
 
I am running TR Bead locks on mine in a 15. I believe they will make a 6 lug in a 17 with the correct backspacing. Its aluminum as well and drops the weight per corner

Any reason you didn't go with ARP studs? Or are you going to use them with 6-stud knuckles?
You could also look into the FROR keyed steering arms by the way.
