I am looking for the best way to relocate the alt to the right side for a PS mod. Didn't see anything in FAQs under steering.

Is there anything that works well without having to do a lot of cobbling up?

2F alternator bracket and extend the wiring.

No big deal.

WOt? That EZ? Good Deal,

I am away on business so the only FJ40 work I can get done is info gathering at the moment!

Oh yeah, I only have a 1F bracket so I guess I am searching through the want ads again!

Thanks for the tip!

If your up for it and have the harness out, unwrap the harness and move the wires from the left side to the right side. You will still have to use longer wires or splice them, but you can put the splice in the harness and have the ends still intact.

Orange45 may have the bracket you seek. Get the bolts if he has them and while your at it, if you don't have an engine lift hook, get that too.

thanks cooler

I do have 2 engine hooks that's one thing I did think ahead for

--I'll check on the bracket, thanks for the tip:cheers:

Tim Hill has a number of brackets for mounting the Alternator on the RH side of the 2F engine.

If you cannot find them anyplace else, I should have a few brackets. The one that bolts to the block as well as the tensioner bracket.

I actually wanted to keep mine down on the bottom left after I went to the 2F, but getting a high output alternator to fit that old F bracket was impossible.

I got my 2F bracket from Tim Hill also.

Moused it

I was able to Micky a 2F alternator into my F alternator bracket, & install it on my 2F so I could do the PS setup with the OEM 2F bracket on the left side of the engine. It saved me from having to use the OEM PS & Alt 1005 mm belt setup, which I found absurd.

ps on the right

Thanks, the more little things like this come up the more I think I need to buy another mig. Before the FJ I had one that just sat for years that I got rid of but now I could really use it!

I wouldn't worry bout whipping up some brackets if I still had it

shame about yer 2f:crybaby::crybaby:

got a shot of your pump mounted?

I replaced 1F for 2F I cut the original 66 wire loom completely loose on the fire wall side and pulled the wires to there new route, there was enough slack to reach from the ammeter (-) white / blue stripe to the alternator and replaced the (F) and (E) with new longer wires (I ran black(E) and green(F) . I ran mine a long the fire wall around to the right side of the engine then taped it all back together relocating the Temp wire along the way splice in a 2F pig tail with a rubber boot too.

Alternator (B) wire white/blue stripe to the Ammeter ( - ) side.

Alternator (F) wire white/green stripe to the F on voltage reg.

Alternator (E) wire white/black stripe to the E on the reg.

hope this helps.
