I cannot speak for this specific model of Veepeak but you can always return it if it doesn’t work. From experience the OBD Fusion app requires the WiFi connection for apple devices (iPhone/iPad) and bluetooth for Android devices.
I use the BLE+ model with my iOS devices running OBD Fusion. No issues with various iOS versions for both iPhone and iPad.

Recently I ordered a CSF radiator from Rock Auto for my 2002 100. At just over 100 bucks and with seemingly good reviews, I gave it a shot. It lasted about 3 months and started leaking at the bottom (plastic). Rock Auto will not give me credit for a Koyorad, or my $$ back, they will only let me exchange it for another CSF. Grrrr. B/c my daughter drives this 100 a few hours away to college, I bit the bullet and went Toyota OEM. I'm hoping it will last many years, and if I do sell the 100, it's a selling point that it has an OEM rad now.

Buyer beware on CSF, just my 2 cents......

You made the right move, especially since you won't be the one driving this truck. You can rest easy that the rad won't be failing anytime soon.

Was in the same boat last week. Factory radiator stated leaking at the seam. I have gone with Koyorad as opposed to a Factory unit (local supplier has a 2 years warranty).

The box did not have any packing whatsoever (no wonder these things get damaged so frequently in S&H), and no cap. Made in Indonesia. We shall see how long it goes…

Just received my Toyota radiator from Serra. Got it during their recent 15% off event (which is currently 25% off 😩) for about $320 shipped. That’s about $100 more than a Denso or Koyorad, but it comes with the foam blocking a new cap, and I don’t want to do this job twice.

Little bit of ruffling on some of the fins where cardboard rubbed against them, I’ll probably comb them straight. These things are hard to ship!

Do people who pick up at the dealership have less bent/ruffled fins where the shipping cardboard is?
I picked mine up at local dealer - it had a few bent fins but was minimal.

I don’t fault anyone for this but my thinking is I don’t want to ever have to use a warranty- and it’s not much good on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere.

I replaced my radiator about 4 years ago. I ordered an original and picked it up at a local Toyota dealer. I had them open the box and it was perfect. Like others have mentioned, some items are better to be picked up at the local dealership then having them shipped to your door.

Could you kindly share the part number please. Are they still having the sale?

Post #620. Sounds like the consensus is that they’ll be running something around July 4-ish. You can always call and ask. I did earlier this spring and the parts manager was kind enough to advise me to wait a few days to order, saved me about $300.

Original OE rad in my 01 Cruiser failed in 2017, it lasted 16 years and 200k miles.
I put a Koyorad off RockAuto in it back then, and it appears to be on its way out now, it lasted 8 years and 40K.

I'm going back to OE, can get it shipped for $283 today with the 25% off toyota sale.

Happy to be able to buy an OE rad after a quarter century - the FJ80 radiator long since NLA.
Where did you see it priced like that?

My question may have had an answer somewhere but I think It's not a bad idea to ask here, I'm in the middle of an engine swap and have a long list of things to buy one of them is a radiator. Is there any big difference between the Denso replacement and the OEM unit? I'm trying to budget the cash on the spending and radiator is one of the big ticket item the price difference between the two radiator is about $200-$250 depends on where you buy it and shipping charges. Maybe send me a link if this was discuss already at some point.

The Denso radiator is made in Taiwan and is a decent radiator. Performance wise, it is fine. We are talking about a 20-25 y/o, $10-15k vehicle here. Spend accordingly.

I doubt anyone here can empirically tell you that one is better than another. I’d love to see a teardown or cutaway like people do with oil filters. It’s common to see posts like “ _________ sucks!” because one person had one failure. If you want quality, I’d eliminate the generic products that show up under different random brands on eBay and Amazon because there is zero accountability. That leaves you with 2-3 options, with a couple hundred $ range.

I spent years in manufacturing and OEMs often have different QA tiers for different customers. Companies like Denso may use one line for their retail business and another for OE, especially because their OE customers are taking on the warranty obligations. The difference may be minor or even visible. For example, the Toyota branded radiators comes with foam seals and a new carrier. Branded retail does not.

Radiator’s kind of a black box where you won’t know it’s failed until too late, and then consequences are high, compared to a muffler or a battery.

The number one concern with any radiators, we use. Is the automatic transmission (AT) fluid cooler in the bottom section or radiator. If the AT cooler fails, we can damage the AT.
