I originally posted this in “what did you do today” but I like it so much that I think it deserves a spot in best mod. I put on a matte black hood decal from Amaesing Decal. Went on pretty easy but I do have a little experience with vinyl wrap. My paint is starting to go on my hood so I figured this might give me a couple years before a paint job.

Link for the decal? Also how much was it?
Thanks

$14 - just got this. Super helpful for me (5'8") whenever I'm accessing the roof rack or cargo box items up high - I can stand on the rear tires for items towards the rear of the vehicle but when moving forward, I've got nothing higher than the sliders or bottom of door frame to stand on which doesn't cut it for me. Problem solved!

Pros
  1. The "hook" folds so the unit stores flat (inside an included velvet bag) - unit now kept in DS door pocket.
  2. Window breaker metal tip, "just in case"....
  3. Inexpensive...fyi only.
Cons
  1. A blatant ripoff of the US original Moki doorstep. I would have happily bought the Moki (price wasn't part of my consideration here) but its hook doesn't fold down so it's bulky to store (my glovebox is already full with other items).

Nothing significant, just driveway tinkering. PIcs work better than words....

Front door installations - very stable (rubber base rests firmly against interior of door frame)....

16" of elevation gain!!!! I can now easily reach 2/3 of the way across my roof rack whereas without it I can't get much of anything done up there (I usually have to climb on top of the roof rack).

For me, this little sucker is a game changer. Love it!

I've lived in 5 Western States and South America, including the Pacific Northwest. None of those areas can compare to the force of an AZ downpour during the monsoon season. WhAt is the visual in your mind when you hear the word "monsoon"? Because that is what accurately describes the rain here at times it's crazy. And heaven forbid you get caught on the road driving through one....it's blinding, roads turn to rivers, people taking shelter under over passes. It's just nuts.

Oh I know monsoons my friend, oft preceded by hail those storms are ;)
El Paso, Flagstaff, Deer Valley, and Moab are my exposure to the gulf-generated summer rains.
And when that's coming down like it can, being outside is not where you want to be, umbrella or not! ;)
People get caught in those storms and expire every year ... :(
I know the sky can just open up and pour water!!

...the literal wall of water...

There are some good pictures in here, mostly just from the last 11 years though. ;)

I like this series from Moonflower Canyon CG:

Yep. We just we walked over to the wash by our neighborhood for the third time this week, water still flowing line a river from the rain and snow we received over a week ago. Wall of water is accurate 🌧️

I was up on Fins and Things last May when the sky opened up and we got 2-3" of hail in 10 minutes followed by a wall of water. I was lucky in that I tucked in next to a rock against the wind driving it all so no hail damage, but WOW. I will never play down the rain out there...but there is no way I would be out in that if I can help it!

$75 I took my hood off when I did mine. It’s not necessary but it made it a little easier to work with. If you haven’t worked with vinyl before, I’d recommend buying a cheap piece of vinyl to practice with first.

@DRANGED - thx for sharing the folder of monsoon pics, those are great. I never seem to organize my Google pics, need to get around to that...

You can just search your Google pics. Log in to your Google photos and search car, see what comes up, Google tries to automatically make them searchable

Nice! Any splash guard for right behind the Coil and UCA?
@flatwerx
Neg. They leave that exposed for air flow and heat dissipation.
I asked them about this when comparing the GX to the LC80's design. Here was the reply, "...when we create our splash guards, we try and provide as much coverage as we can, however, every model is somewhat different depending on many factors... in the case of the GX, the area above the upper control arms needs some room and the additional small area directly above the shock tower is left open for heat dissipation off the engine exhaust manifold... we have found that while some of the older LCruisers and 1st gen Tacomas did have coverage go all the way across the top, that in those cases their was much greater space between the engine/exhaust and the fender wall and there still was a gap left above the shock tower. "

Hope that helps..
