Thinking of bringing the family over for a mini vacation. Anyone know of a good place to stay for me, my wife and 18mth old? Like to be kind of close to Beasley Knob so I can come and hang out.

Cabin would be great.

Hey Marshall...think you have room to bring the UC shelter to help us out in case it rains?

Thanks for putting on this event. Class act the whole way. Had a great time. Perfect weather and great wheeling. Beasley is a great place. Will have to come back. Thanks Heather and everyone for putting this on.

Here are some pics. Lots of carnage at Beasley. Unusual for the kind of terrain.

Great pics Marshall.

I am sure there will be a few more official posts, but most are still en route home. I just arrived and have to say WOW!! The event went off without a hitch, and ended up being much more that we had expected.

Totals for the weekend (as I know it now):

2 FJC rear differentials
2 FJC rear windows
1 FJC radiator
1 FJ40 birfield

The trails were in great condition (thanks to bounty runners, who adopted and maintain them), the people were outstanding, and k9crazy (sis!) was awesome to keep the whole thing together!

BBQ was great, raffle prizes accumulated and were respectable for a first year event, and the Toyota Trail team was up to the task and put on some great trail ride fun, recovery demonstrations, etc.

Again, awesome time, and thanks to everyone registered for their time!

Stop kidding, those raffle prizes were friggin' awesome which basically sums up the event, friggin' awesome. You guys did a great job, pat yourselves on the back.

What a great "Bash"! Unfortunately I had to miss the evening celebration Saturday, but had a great time Friday night and on the ride Saturday.

The Trail Team was typically fantastic and it was great to see all of you and meet some new folks.

Heather, you did an unbelievable job putting this together and making it a tremendous success!

Can't wait for next year!!!

FJ Diff Failure

I just heard there were two more rear diff failures at Beasley.
I wanted to go and break mine there while there were folks that had experience with this failure.
Are there any pics? Or would someone tell me what I'm facing if/when I break? Tools? Process?
I've hammered mine pretty hard at URE and some at Tellico and it didn't break so maybe I don't have the suspect part but I'd like to be prepared.
A PM would be great or I can start a thread if that seems beneficial. A cursory search of the FJ part of Mud didn't yield a hit.
Thanks. Didn't mean to hijack but maybe some relevance to this thread.

I was with the two FJCs at Beasley the first time (we took them apart in the field and drove back to ATL without a rear ring gear) so I am familiar with the process. I believe both trucks this time were hauled to the road and AAA to the dealer.

Sorry I didn't quite make it there :frown: Actually, I drove up there with intentions of attending the dinner & raffle (Cruiserless) & didn't realize I needed a trail rig to get to the camp  Was there another way to reach the main camp other than the directions on the info packet?

The second entrance would have gotten you to camp no problem. You most likely turned at the first entrance that is all trail to the camp. The second entrance is another mile beyond that first turn near the propane refilling station.

Gravel road all the way, no problem. I drove my stock 100 all the way in.

 I just followed the first signs I saw. I got a good ways into the trails before they really got too tight for my fullsize tow rig. Had a heck of a time getting turned around on one of those steep hills. Started hiking my way to camp. By then it was getting dark & I had already missed dinner. Hiked for a while w/ my chair/ drinks & didn't hear any camp activity. Hopefully, I can make the next event ;p

I figured that sign would get someone.

Next time we will make a Beasley Bash sign that points straight past that sign so we can get everyone to the gravel road entrance.

Sorry!

Awesome time, great folks, great rides, great food...thanks to all (especially Heather) for putting it all together! I'll post up a few shots as soon as I can.

Thank You!!!!

I just want to say THANK YOU to all that signed up and came to our first annual Beasley Bash and our first TLCA sanctioned event!

We had a phenomenal turn out and a whole lot of fun. And what an appropriate name for the event given the carnage of the weekend. A "bash" it was.

I wanted to say a special thank you to the TTT for coming out and joining us. You guys are a big part of why this event was so well attended. And you really went above and beyond with your help recovering down rigs, getting them out safely, helping to get them repaired, and getting them home when they were stranded. Toyota should be proud to have you associated with their name. I'll be writing a letter to make sure they know it too!

I have some photos of wheeling on Sunday that I'll post up when I get a chance.

I gotta throw in some props for the folks that helped plan the event:

Dan Kunz for the food, logistics, raffle, and general support
Rick Carswell for the T-shirts, trail leader, and help with logistics
Steen Henninger for leading up the Raffle donations
Josh Shmitt for trail leader and logistics
Keven Schulte for help with logistics
And anyone else I forgot...thanks!!!!

AND ONE MORE THANK YOU AGAIN to everyone who attended and I can't wait to see y'all again at one of our meetings or at another event really soon!

Sorry!

No big deal :) Not having wheeled there before & no recovery equipment on my tow rig, I didn't wanna take a chance in getting stuck somewhere on the trail system. Spoke with the nice ranger there. He said he coulda written a bunch of tickets for non paying wheelers. I could have gotten one too if I didn't pay him the $5.00 as I thought the $50.00 fee would have surely covered the trail use fee. Got back home & read the addendum to the trail info pack & it said the $5.00 fee was NOT covered  :o Glad everyone had a bashing time ;p

The First Annual Beasley Bash was a great event. Thanks to Heather, the GA Cruisers, the FJ Trail Team and all the elves who helped pull this off! We had a great time and learned a lot too (always go down the path of least resistance ;) ).

Beasley Bash lived up to its namesake and some carnage was expected, but I thought it would have been Group #1 (the built FJ40's) and not the following Moderate Trail groups  Everyone was in great spirits, despite the damage to their rigs - a great sign of good people in our club. Thanks to the generosity of the Trail Team for lending a hand and guiding one of our group rides. They also went out of their way to assist the fallen on the trail (some not even Toyotas!).

We couldn't have asked for better weather, so the camping was great.

Sunday AM we decided to run the same route that my group did again, this time Kitty drove while I took pics. She did everything except the descent off the top of 93C which is a pretty hairy spot. See vids below. I took the same line I did on Saturday and Gustav went straight down the 4 foot ledge. He made it look so easy. My line was a bit more bouncy and tippy, but since I did it the day before I knew what to expect. Next time I'll just go down the ledge and avoid the off camber bounce.

Got tons of pics uploading now. Here's a teaser for now... click on the first two images to jump to the video clips.
