B1: Refreshing GCC FZJ80, 1994, GX, Tan

Hi, this would be my first post on this great website.

I am refreshing a low-mileage, rust-free, Saudi Arabian FZJ80. What makes it unique is not only it is a rust-free truck, but also a LHD too.

Please keep your eyes on it; it might be for sale later!

We received the truck from the transposition company, and the first this we did was clean up the cooling system because it is about summer and we don't need any surprises.

Let's start with a couple of general shots of the current condition if of the truck.

The engine bay has never been touched before, so it is going to be washed and replaced whatever parts needed

The Interior is clean, and no cracks on the INSTRUMENT PANEL! "YESSS!!!", but we are going to take all seats out and wash the inside, and make sure no dust or mud is in. I do not like it because it causes rust sometimes.

The next step is to collect OEM parts for the mechanical and body. For the body parts, this includes most of the plastic parts and rubber stripes. also, we are going to get a brand new OEM front bumper to get the exact color match "I hate repainting fj80 bumpers, I don't like to match colors haha" Good thing about GX's corners that they come with a black plastic finish.

About body stripes, I'll do my best to collect a full set from over Saudi. Yes from over Saudi because they are not easy to find and Toyota is not really interested to make them again.

Humm, I thought I might not finish this project; I was busy preparing trucks for the USA and one FJ62 for local clients. But now I have the time!

This restoration will be as much OEM as possible. All parts you will see in the future are original Toyota, except the end rods. The plan is to perform a body-off restoration while retaining the original paint on the body. This involves walking through most of the compartments underneath and then replacing most of the accessories and straps.

The inside of the body was collecting dust only. It is satisfying to wash this dust

The floor has had spills and dirt from the 90s until now!

All straps will be installed new. I like sliding windows, but they must be serviced with new runs to perform well.

Door dust covers are still available from Toyota; but unfortunately, the barn door covers are discontinued

During this week, we removed most of the underneath; then, the body will be off the body soon, so we can walk through the mechanical points.

Powder coating:
I have a style that I like to use with J80s, where I powder-coat all the small parts in glossy black and make the significant parts and the frame half glossy.

All bushes have been removed to be replaced after the paint.

We just had a holiday here.
I do believe that Toyota has a stronger chassis paint starting from the 90s models. So we only polished the paint and painted any areas affected by road sand.

While the boy is up, we are washing the gas tank "tank guards are all to the powder coating," then I replace all gaskets, and try to provide as many hoses as I can.

Additionally, we removed the existing firewall insulation and replaced it with new insulation.
