Just wanted to throw up a couple of pics of my new RuffStuff 9.5 for any of you guys ever thinking of going this route.

Built to factory width to reuse all internal components. My truck will be 3 link with 14" FOA coilovers for suspension. Axle will be roughly 2" forward.

This axle is all business. The internal gusseting is impressive. Thanks Dan and RuffStuff for such an awesome product.

Headed out this weekend for the last hurrah in my 80 before i pull the body and begin my FZJ43. I think i have finally nailed down a concrete plan, but the :princess: says i will change my mind 10 more times before the weekend.

The pipe dream of a caster corrected completed housing has been dashed, so this will be the only alternative.

Out of curiosity, how are you planning to address driveline angle?

Delancy,

First pic. I have a CV shaft i can use in the front so i will probably go that route. I originally paid to have the knucles welded on, but wanted to be able to dial in my caster and everything after i had the 3 link built, so i had RS leave them unwelded.

And for those that will ask about steering. RHD arm and chevy y style steering.

I have been enamored by IPOR's FZJ40 for long enough, time to build my own. His is 104", I may keep the stock 112" and stretch the body. I will decide when I test fit the body. I love my 80 and will be sad to "see it go", but i have completely ruined the body wheeling in the woods to the point that i dont feel it has any resale value. I pulled the body off my 40 last weekend to find my frame is in worse shape than i thought.

Be sure to tell us where your build thread is going to be.

LT, that was some funny sh&%, sorry Delancey!! He got you on that LOL

Don't goad him and there's only one "e" in "Delancy". :flipoff2:

All in humor, obviously and before this is moved to chat.....

I am curious to know what the "proper" means to set up the front is, considering this is the shot to correct caster and determine a vibration free driveline.

Edited: yOHda replied, so irrelevant.

Looking forward to this project. If there's somewhere else the build will develop, please share link here.

Man that housing is sweet, makes me think this might be a good route for the new to me 80 i picked up a couple weeks ago :hmm:... If u don't mind, what did the housing cost ya?

where are you going wheelin this weekend?

sexy!!!!!

Body is off the 80. Body is off the 40 and cut in half. Mating the two in a couple weeks. i'll post some pics soon. Havent made enough progress for a build thread yet.

Starting reading this thread like it was new, and BAM, there is a question I had two years ago.

Bringing this one back from the dead, aren't you.....

where did you get the "balls" for the ends?
Looks like you managed to cut them from an existing axle?
How did you get them so nice and cleaned up and ready for welding?

Would anyone be interested if there was a replacement(new part) available?
