No kidding, man. If you're going to have an Asian Orange thread at least post something once and a while.

All right all right!!

Haven’t even messed with the igniter yet, been crazy busy around the house. I did however decide to go ahead and do the CLR scrub and boiled linseed oil yesterday. Cart before the horse right?

Scrubbed the entire truck with 0000 steel wool soaked in CLR then went back and hit only the rust spots a second time before applying the BLO. Really pleased with how it turned out.

4/0 is 4 ought, our 0000, super fine steel wool. BLO is boiled linseed oil.

Patina preservation tips from JP’s work in the first LV many moons ago and more recently rearchived with patina thread by wngrog in 40/55 tech.

Green scotch brite (worn preferably so save your old ones to market to the patinists) and CLR scrub to clean and remove rust. Boiled linseed oil to soak into metal and slow/prevent its return.

KEEP’s 55 turned out awesome

Its like a nice hardwood slab and by my ring count it looks like a 79

Wow that’s great! I need to polish my truck, it is super cloudy but I hit a small test spot with some rubbing compound and it shined up really nice.

Got the GM igniter wired in Saturday and finally have spark. Fogged the cylinders and replaced the spark plugs and added 5 gallons of fresh 93 octane in the tank. Hopefully I’ll get some time this week and finally get it running.

yup .... let me know when and I'm happy to come watch. :)

Well the truck still not running, not getting fuel and I suspect it’s the fuel pump. I bought one locally from an auto parts store and turns out it wasn’t the right one. Gonna order one from LCE and hope it does the trick. I did manage to get it in the garage. Uphill slope so I pushed it in with the tractor LOL. The rear bumper was totally shot so pushing on it didn’t hurt anything. Had the tires from @southerncruiser62 mounted on a set of used 16” steel wheels and painted them and decided to put them on but no go. Backspacing is wrong for front and back. Hitting the TRE’s up front and the leafs in the back so I guess a set of spacers are in order. At least I finally have it in the garage so I can mess with it when time allows. Did snag a poser pic.

If you only need 1/4” spacers I have a set you can have.

EDIT .... sorry, I missed the part where you said also hitting the leafs in rear. Clarification... I have a pair of spacers.

LOL that would be the sweet smell of success mixed with the stench of dead gas!!

Ol Greg and I got the Asian Orange running last night! New fuel pump and 5 gallons of fresh 93 octane mixed with the remnants of what dead gas was left in the tank made for a running pickup. Couldn’t believe how well it was running even with the gas being so dead. Smelled great LOL

You gotta figure out a way to use those wheels. They look killer! Good job on getting the truck running. I had an old varnished gas experience last night as well with my old Kawasaki KDX 200. What I thought would be a quick blast around the block morphed into a PITA fuel system rehab. Bike is torn down and my shop looks like the damn thing just exploded. Parts everywhere.
