My joying pumpkin crapped out, I never liked the android interface and it was buggy. I Haven’t seen any new double din unit install or recommendations on here for about four years in my search and since tech has a shelf life of milk; would like to know if anyone has installed any new DD units or iOS as headunit replacements in the last couple of years or is everyone just choosing the same units from the old threads? Thanks

I just installed the Pioneer AVIC 8200 NEX unit and couldn’t be happier. Plug and play with the correct harness. Backup camera, onboard navigation, Apple CarPlay, and more....

I did change the the factory speakers out because mine were shredded. I also pulled the factory amp out because it was blown.

The front speakers fit right in and retains the factory grills, the rear speakers, I mounted through the door cards, as I was not able to retain the factory grills with the 6.5 inch speakers, but I’ve heard some people have figured out a way. I just didn’t want to do all the engineering required to figure it out. I simply painted the Pioneer grills to match and I think they look and sound great.

Thanks! That is a cool screen saver too. There was so much wire/connection engineering for the pumpkin for the 450 that it never really felt good and it didn’t work after the update. I’ll look into this pioneer. I wonder if there is a way to add more cameras if one wanted to, like maybe a splitter? This is one thing that drew me to the pumpkin although I never got around to installing them.

youre going to vibrate holes in those speakers. those screws will destroy them...

Good timing on the thread. I’m getting ready for a d-din. Looking at models with dual camera inputs.

I got a cheap Pioneer AVC ahv290bt... $200 and it works really well.

I got a cheap pioneer like this too, think it was 161 on amazon, this may be a better model. I got xm, needed the box, so 50 for that and plug in harness was 12 bucks. 35 on backup camera. Camera kinda sucks, but it works. Prob needs more light when backing up in the dark. Hope my led reverse lights help that.

Those get expensive, but prob worth it. That is what i wanted but settled for cheap, in case a theif decides they want my 161 dollar unit.

I believe the Pioneer has dual camera support. Here is a link to the specs

AVIC-8200NEX - Flagship In-Dash Navigation AV Receiver with 7” WVGA Capacitive Touchscreen Display

It mounted right up using the brackets I pulled of the factory radio. No trimming or nodding was required to the dash trim. This harness made it pretty much plug and play:

Direct wire harness for Pioneer Headunits (fits Toyota and Subaru) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078GBDRVX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_7WB8Ab8SACXF1

You will have to run wires for the backup camera, camera power and ground, reverse sensor, and parking brake sensor, but that’s all pretty simple.

Yeah, we might have the same model. I think mine was like $180 but I paid for a harness adapter... something like $15. What's nice is that it has (I believe) dual camera inputs built in. My reverse camera has come in handy a bunch of times... probably like yours. Here's what my image looks like at night with no lighting other than my reverse and brake lights:

Not as nice as an AVIC model, but still pretty good, if you ask me!

When i asked at the stereo shop, the only onevwith two inputs was like 700 bucks. Now thats shop prices, they wanted 350 for my 161 dollar unit, soooo maybe a double port is 300? Ah who knows, too lazy to look it up.

I put this in mine and is by far the best double din i've had in any of my vehicles. it does not have a cd player though...
I like this one too...I don't own it but this is the one I have been looking it. It does NOT have a CD play and i think that's great!! CDs are a thing of the past and wish there were more units out there with no CD. I couldn't open the Crutchfield link but here it is on Amazon for $348
Or THIS one. 7" that's satellite ready for $429
