It's in the truck, but haven't driven it yet. I have been cleaning and painting everything as I go so it takes me a long time to get anything done.

I bought the sta-lube. It was the only GL-4 I could find. It's almost as expensive as synthetic. $32 a gallon. I bought GL-5 for the transfer case. I will drive it tonight and let you know.

I just helped your coworker finish lifting his 80 tonight. It looks good. Had to leave him with the two front shocks left to put on..

One of the front shocks is in. The driver side still won't come out.

Eric. That swivel we bought should do the job. But I should have bought a shorter 17mm. A deep socket is too tall and the regular is too short

Can you use the H42 shifter with the plastic cup or do I need to cut the H55 and weld it to the H42?

H42 and H55F shifter tips are definitely different. I've not tried to stuff a plastic cup on the tip of a H42 shifter, don't know how well that would work. IIRC the shifter I left with Matt had already been modified, H42 with H55F tip welded on, but shifter was for a 40 series.

Cut and weld and add the H55F tip to a H42 shifter or go with a new H55F shifter.

I test drove it and the transmission shifts very well. No grinding. No problems going into reverse or any other gears. I didn't get to put too many miles on it because I'm still having fuel issues. I put the plastic piece on the H42 just for the test drive and it worked fine. The fj40 shifter hit the dash. I will weld the two together.

I had forgotten that my carb is hosed. Any ideas on a quick good running carb. My troll hole carb is leaking gas out of one of the throttle valves.

What about heating and bending the FJ40 shifter?

x2 better idea than piecing together something as important as a shifter.

JB Weld it. Sumbitchllshift. :p

I won't be able to get to it until Monday. I like the fj60 shifter so I will probably cut and weld the shifters together.

I also found a place where the frame has rotted through. I need to get some 1/4" steel plate to patch it with. I also need some to finish my roof rack. There is sand in the frame and I need to get it out before it rusts anymore.

What have you guys done for towers for mounting a roof rack.

I didn't want to pay $200+ for the towers. I may look into making them. Those do look nice.

The price tag on the towers is the sole reason I've never ventured into custom racks... add another hunnerd bucks and you get the entire rack, with feets. I've had two full size racks in years past.

there are a few custom roof rack threads and some very nice KISS tower ideas.

everyone and their dog makes rain gutter mounts. the gamvitti towers are nice... but do you really need towers 10x stronger than the mounting surface?

i

sent from my PADD

I finally got these in tonight. I still need to run power to the passenger seat and wire the drivers. They are nice and comfy.
