Mrtwooooo replied to the thread Interesting Re-Gear… Hmm..
It does add quite a bit of unsprung weight. I'm no expert on how that effects things but I've always heard to reduce unsprung weight. Scrub radius is another thing I believe is going to change quite a bit with adding portals. I could be wrong...

Car Care Nut also states that even if you do oil changes every 5,000 miles instead of every 10,000 you're still coming out much better than the cost of a new engine. I suspect that toyota is pushing these longer oil change intervals so they can...

the photo shows 4 u joints which is correct for what we have on our cars but there are only 2 slide yokes. one on each driveshaft. You will probably not see any grease come out of the slide yokes but as you pump more and more grease into the...

Mrtwooooo replied to the thread 200 series ticking noise.
Mine isn't going anywhere. Out of all the forums i've read it doesn't sound like there has ever been a failure related to this.

Mrtwooooo replied to the thread 200 series ticking noise.
I've had the LX for about 15 months now. It had a tad less than 100K miles on it and I'm at 124K miles now. It seems like it may be a problem with the tensioner piece. I just don't understand why it sounds like the noise cycles on and off.. And...

Mrtwooooo replied to the thread 200 series ticking noise.
My LX makes the same noise but only on a cold start and it cycles on and off. Its not cycling with the AC compressor so it know its not related. Once its warmed up it doesn't make the sound anymore. I do get a hint that I may have an exhaust...

if you did 30+ pumps of grease into the No.2 zerk then thats probably not good... as in you overfilled it.

I've always wondered if lots of suspension flexing would wear out the globes faster. I'm not very well versed on how these hydraulic systems work because when you really flex the suspension the fluid has to go somewhere. I get the globes are...

would it not turn the cornering light on based on a turn signal? I think i'd rather have the sequential turn signals the JDM cars got.

Mrtwooooo replied to the thread How necessary is CDL really?.
The guy that does the Driving Sports TV youtube channel did a review on a GX recently. He was out on his off road course and was struggling on a muddy section of hill.. Most of the video was him going back and forth trying to make progress... He...

Mrtwooooo replied to the thread Small Grid-tie inverters ?.
Things like this have crossed my mind also. I would love to just have maybe 1500 watts worth of panels and a small system tied back into my house to basically just cover what my HVAC system is using.. or mostly cover it. That would drastically...

Mrtwooooo reacted to aedgington's post in the thread Land Cruiser vs. LX570 with Like Like.
This is absolutely flawed reasoning. 50,000 vehicles sold and MAYBE 100 people on an enthusiast forum that tend to buy the vehicles used and/or push them to their limits is not an equivalency to "all are bad". That's just silly. One bad...

Is there any way to monitor through techstream to see pressures or some kind of number that would be an indicator that a globe is bad? Currently my LX feels fine except the driverside rear just feels odd. It doesn't seem like the suspension...

I think you should also consider that if you just connect the lithium battery to the alternator then all that's going to happen is the battery will get charged and held at a constant voltage while the engine is running. If you connect the...

Mrtwooooo replied to the thread 20% off parts sale 8/21-24.
Somewhat mad that I bought parts last week when they ran their 15% off "back to school discount". I could have saved another $5 on my order.

Some random notes: I regret having been in Fairbanks for 10 days and never venturing onto the Dalton Highway. At the time it seemed like a long drive after an already long drive, but having been so close to it, I now wish I would have taken the...

Yes you can install 3 but i wouldnt, theres no reason you want to put nore than 2. The roofrail in LX is curves so you will not have level across all 3 bars. Secondly, there are latching holes for the cross bars in 3 different places and the...

Mine were the same way and made lots of rattling noises. If you were driving say 5mph with your windows down you could hear them and they were annoying. I did the duct tape trick also and it made them not wiggle around anymore

Mrtwooooo replied to the thread Great HWY mpg….
I use the Fuelly app to keep track of all of my fuel useage and i've averaged 14.9mpg over the last 15k miles in the LX. Best so far is 18.4. My 80 has averaged 12.2mpg over the last 58k miles. All this is calculated based on miles driven...

Mrtwooooo replied to the thread Highest Quality Radiator.
I have a CSF radiator that a previous owner installed. I've owned my 80 for 12 years now and I've never had an issue with it. I barely ever see coolant temps get to 200 degrees ( reading off my scangauge). I run an unopened blue fan clutch...

Mrtwooooo replied to the thread Factory Lockers Question.
the front and rear lockers are only looking to see that the center diff is locked before they will even begin to actuate. If the center diff lock light goes off then the front and rear lockers will either unlock or they won't function.
