I also took a break and hit a local trout stream, I didn't spend much time fishing.
Some a$$hat city dweller and his 4 kids lack the common courtesy to take a few steps out of the stream and pass me by. Instead the jackass lets his kids toss rocks and walk in the pool I am actively fishing. WTF, really?
I'm only talking a 10X20 foot pool, super low, clear water. He doesn't even try to get his kids to change direction, just lets them stroll right in front of me while I am casting. No apologies, no "sorry my kids blah blah blah", nothing. That is the worst part, it wasn't the kids fault he was just wanting to play in the creek. It is all on the father that was just letting him run around. I know I don't own the stream, they have every right to play in it the same as I do. Still an a$$hole is an a$$hole. Common courtesy is to pass by and enjoy another stretch of water, when I encounter other anglers on the water I give a wide berth almost enough that most never notice I pass by. It also helps so they don't try to jockey into position to jump on a hot pool when they see another angler.

Yep. I feel crowded when I can see another fly fisherman on a 1/4 mile open meadow... I don't crowd and expect other angles to treat me the same.

But, your guy may have never seen a stream before... And never fished... Both should be prerequisites for fatherhood...

Worked on finishing up loose ends on the metal work, tacking up pinholes, finishing areas that needed some extra attention, and starting to prep the tub to flip over. I am trying to have my tub ready for primer this week sometime, I hope to be finished grinding the tub SOON.

Took the 4runner off of the pavement today to check out the fall foliage today also....

Still a week or so early.

A ton of grinding tonight, I am almost ready to flip the tub so I can weld in a couple places. I need to finish grinding in the wheel wells so the support brackets will sit flush. @Awl_TEQ I think we were chatting a while back about trying to find a method to make the bed support brackets a little more durable, any chance you came up with a plan?

I'm also looking at ways to build a frame to mount a fold and tumble about 3-4 inches off of the bed in the back, so I can still use the space underneath for storage. It also needs to be SOLID, my kids are going to be in there!

I haven't heard of the overlandwerks bracket, time to gire up the Google machine.

I am definitely welding in reinforcements on the underside of the tub to aid in making it stronger, I want all that in place before I shoot primer and monstaliner.

It's made out of tube for the guys with early bench seats to put buckets in. Same basic shape but lower with tabs for the rear bench would be pretty functional.

I was thinking of something that used the front body mounts in the bed and possibly the rear mounts for the roll bar. That would open up the full width across the rear, I could also incorporate other ways to mount things without drilling holes throughout the rear.

I forgot to mention, I sent my carb and distributor to @FJ40Jim last week, hopefully all goes well and everything is good. 5-6 week lead time, not an issue for me, I'm willing to bet I won't be ready before the goods are.

It is the bottomeside of the tub, where I welded the patches in. I did not get the weld backed up good enough and have some areas that I need to grind down flush so the support brackets will fit in tight and flush.

I don't specifically recall that but all I did was make sure to prime the supports well inside before welding in place. Grinding the backside of the patch welds is also important as you mentioned. The supports will be strongest if installed noice and toit. It's a good design as is but for the rust issues. I used a seam sealer on every joint, crack and even over my patch welds. I slathered it on and went over it with my finger to push it into every crack and crevice inside the wheel well. I do recall getting a good buzz from the fumes with my head stuck in the well...
