You can buy it cheap, but that doesn't mean your bank account is done writing checks for it.

I've come to the conclusion the $200k builds from the reputable builders are the most cost effective 2nd best option.

The best option is buying one 2nd hand, where they found out these vehicles drive like absolute garbage and they hate them compared to their X5 or G550 and they're up for sale at $80k off

As long as the second hand isn´t from Mushro ( a man of ill repute... known as the person most people in our community don't feel comfortable speaking his name out loud )

I'd be checking tat one out in person for sure. If I could buy that for $11,000 USD here, I'd be running over with cash in my pocket to check it out.

I don't Think at 6'4" (6'5"+ with shoes on) I'd fit in, but they are awesome trucks.

I'm 6'4", own a good few 45's and 47's and have driven them up to 300 miles at a time. Cabin space is the lesser issue by far, unless you have a big gut. OEM seat construction and padding, ride quality, lack of power steering and aircon coupled with 90 degree+ weather are far bigger items. But they are awesome beasts and we love them. Find yourself one.

There are a lot of reasons I'll just stick with my 40. If I do anything, I'll be extending my 40 into a 43.

The last one I saw for sale in these parts was a very rusty beater that hadn’t run or moved in years. It had been neglected and abused for years. Most would consider it a parts truck.

The seller wanted $15,000 because, “they know what it’s worth” (restored). When it requires repairs/replacement of every body $ interior part, and rebuild/replacement of every mechanical part, $15,000 is too much. I didn’t see it in person, but every other Landcruiser in its condition also needs extensive frame repairs or a replacement frame.

Perhaps once I finish my rolling restomod on my 40… but given its been going on for 33+ years, I’d not hold my breath.

I hear you. I have 40's and 43's too, albeit very early and earlier models. The 43's are more for the novelty of having them and I don't see a major advantage.

In a 180 turn from your world, 45's are abundant and relatively cheap here (we don't suffer structural rust issues) with a cleanish base starting at $7,500 whereas 40's (nevermind 43's) generally start in the $25,000 range for a beater imported from Oz that needs extensive work.
