Air conditioning belt/ 1 FZ-FE

Hello,

My air conditioning belt is noisy .... is obviously stretched.
When I looked under my 1 FZFE, I realized that I have no way to give tension to this belt.
Is it necessary to remove the compressor to change the belt ? Is this possible?
Anyone remember the technical specification of the belt ?

You should be able to put some more tension on the belt.

Check this thread for the two fasteners that you need to access (the "idle pulley locknut" and the "adjusting bolt"): https://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-tech/236051-ac-belt-tension.html

To get a better view, crawl under the truck and remove the thin metal "skid plate/splash guard" that is held on with four bolts (I think it's four). There is an access hole in this skidplate, but the first time you mess with the AC belt, I found it helpful to see the entire setup.

more often the double alternator belts are noisy. From Toyota they are a matched pair. Slight differences in length will make more noise sooner.

The a/c belt tensioner is reached from underneath the car.

simply had not seen the screw to adjust .... .......... but thanks to the advice received, I could fix it.

Thanks guys this helped me just change my ac belt. Someone had over torqued the lock nut but was able to get it off without stripping it.

Hey, did you move the tensioner pulley "down" the slotted bracket to increase tension? That's what it looks like I need to do to increase tension on my squealing belt, but I wanted to check.

Yes. After loosening the lock nut on the pulley....you can turn the adjusting bolt (head) clockwise..which will move the pulley downward, tensioning the belt. Then tighten the lock nut on the pulley to hold it in place. I also like to snug up the adjusting bolt after tightening the lock nut.

You will see exactly how it works once you are under the truck. The only thing NOT readily apparent (if you've never done it before) is the 'lock nut' on the pulley being the item that holds everything in place once the belt is tensioned.
