Igniters can fail, but it is not all that common. Part number 89621-26010 is still available from Toyota, so no reason to go aftermarket.hi guys

thx Jon, the cost i found is ~$450, very high, the aftermarket -assuming good- is optimal for meIgniters can fail, but it is not all that common. Part number 89621-26010 is still available from Toyota, so no reason to go aftermarket.

There is no test procedure that I know of for the igniter.Hey
Jon,
Looking for a test procedure for the 3FE igniter with nothing noted in the FSM. Any Advice? Is it a case of everything else tests okay so change the igniter.
Also, what is your experience with the failure rate of the ignition module inside the distributor?
It tests okay but just barely on one side, other side measures right in the middle of the resistance spec.
BTW Amayama has the igniters in stock now
Cheers
John
Jon, Would you consider the 89621-26010 ignitor (available) a suitable alternate to the unavailable 89621-30010 on a 91 3FE JDM?Igniters can fail, but it is not all that common. Part number 89621-26010 is still available from Toyota, so no reason to go aftermarket.
I don't know the specs for the JDM.Jon, Would you consider the 89621-26010 ignitor (available) a suitable alternate to the unavailable 89621-30010 on a 91 3FE JDM?
I just found a 89621-30010 on megazip.net and pulled the trigger. I'll let you know if it was a false inventory listing from Japan.I don't know the specs for the JDM.
I will say that the igniter and ignition coil have to be matched to each other. If the pin outs and the working voltages are the same between the 2 igniters , then yes, you can swap them.
thx Jon, the cost i found is ~$450, very high, the aftermarket -assuming good- is optimal for me
The pinouts appear to be the same between the 2 igniters. That doesn't necessarily mean it will work. It might make the ignition coil unhappy.I’ve got a 1992 with the 3fe and I’m having issues with an aftermarket icm and plug. I’m finding conflicting answers about the part number 89621-26010 working. Does anyone know if that’s compatible and if so have a diagram of what the terminals are?
