Brake lines are easy and I really enjoy this type of work. I'm out in the shop posting with the cell phone but I'll try to get started and fix it later when I get in the office..

I posted a link to the Eastwood flare tool and mine works well for both 45° and 37° flaring I do here.
I also have the two bar type that will work but it makes the job harder than it needs to be, FYI I have the Rigid brand and you can see how much thicker it is than the Chinese version.

I really enjoy making stainless steel lines but the material is less forgiving and more expensive so unless I'm doing something for myself I usually use the copper nickel, when you buy the copper nickel it'll come in a coil and you will need a way to straighten it..
I made my own straightener but you can buy them cheap enough.

Then you'll start out making yourself some little cheat bends that has some starting marks and you will use these to plan and measure everything out without having to do a bunch of complicated math.

You'll see on some of mine they have the sleeves, those are for the AN 37° nuts and I've machined some of my benders to make the bends as close as I can to the end of the line with those sleeves in place because you cannot put the flare on once it's bent.

I need to get back to work but this guy has some great tips here too.

So me 👀ing at ya toolbox and wondering Ys ya needs all dem benders🧐🤔?? Ya only guts 2 👋👋. So iffin der sumtin ya wanna unload, ya knows where me at 🧁😘

Ys ya needs all dem benders
Because sometimes you need a tight radius and sometimes you want a large one. Then remember when I was building the fuel injection for my wifes pickup I needed to machine some parts for a bender to be able to make all those tight back to back bends after the tubing was flared with the nut on the end..

I like "the stop shop" lines and fittings

Amazon.com: The Stop Shop Stainless Steel Metric Brake Line Invert Flare Fitting for 3/16" Tube. 10 x 1 mm (Pack of 10) : Automotive - https://www.amazon.com/Stainless-Steel-Metric-Invert-Fitting/dp/B01KNGVPCC/ref=ast_sto_dp_puis

Their line is .028 wall thickness, some of the others are too thin.

This is a nice straightener for the money.

Children and grandchildren were in town this weekend so I didn't get any shop time until this afternoon. Reassembled the clutch and brake assembly. It wasn't in terrible shape but looks brand new after powder coating. Happy I took the time to disassemble and throw it into the powder pile. I even opened my new can of Magic Wadding to clean up the electrical parts a bit.

Domestic duties kept me out of the shop for most of the day. I did get a bit of time this morning to wire wheel a few parts that I didn't want sandblasted and powder coated - too many flange facings and/or rubber seals. I had my powder guy hit these with his Hotsy last week but I still had lots of manual scrubbing over the last few days to get the remaining 49 years of grease off. I will paint these with the Mastercoat silver followed by the AG111 satin black.

Three essential items I decided I needed before starting this build were a larger air compressor, a bead blaster, and a parts washer. Well I'm 8 months in and still don't have any of those. I almost feel like I don't need them at this point but they would still be nice to have. I did research and chose an air compressor at one point right after we bought this house but then covid hit, inventory was hard to get, I was living most of the time out of the country, apathy set in, and probably a touch of laziness as well.

Back to today, I can only wire wheel for so long and these few parts was long enough. I have to imagine a bead blaster would have been easier. Photo is after I brushed on the metal prep.

Rear brake cylinder wheels showed up from @cruiseroutfit today. They certainly look the part. Very impressed for $42 each. The front ones even came with the bleeder and cap. Maybe that's to ensure someone doesn't try to put the bleeder into the wrong hole - like I did. 😂

Hurt da 🦻s Doohhh
Why I wear earmuffs. Of course I always have to pluck steel strands from my shirt like I hugged an iron porcupine. Need a blacksmith’s apron.
