A clean FJ cruiser looking for a new home

Alrighty, this is a friends cruiser, he likes it, but he's no IH8Mudder. I think it's a late 60's? It is VERY clean, you'll see small rust spots on below the side doors and in the rear. My friend is the second owner and rarely drove it over the last 10 years. The engine is a 1967 327 Corvette engine (I think). It drives and runs great. Aftermarket roll cage and bucket seats. He lives in Kent WA. The vehicle has always been garaged and includes a soft top/doors.

Can we develop a crowd sourced idea of what he should ask or accept $?

My first reaction is 6000-7000, if it's really as clean as you say it is.

Not more than that because 1. no hardtop 2. lots of non-OEM parts ( i think this is more of a prob for 60's cruisers because they tend to be more "collectibles" than "daily drivers")

actually, as to the year, i would guess '71. did you look for a stamped VIN #? it could be in the door jamb, and would have the date.

First off, it is not an FJ Cruiser. It is a Land Cruiser. Big difference.

Second, I personally wouldn't pay over $4K with a non-stock motor, no hard top, non stock wheels, etc. But really, I guess its worth whatever someone is willing to pay.

jeeps mirrors...funny lights by the kick vent,rear chrome light on the sides? grab bar on the wrong place..nice locking comparment door.....not oem switches in dash or seats roll bar...."clean " means many things but close to stock BIG DIFF...sorry can help on price way to far for my taste TOYOTA way.

Its not a 71' or older...it probably is a 72' - 74' due to the tub. 5K+ rig. Hope this helps.

i say 71-73.. it looks like my 71 cept all the non-stockness....

i wouldn't pay more than 3k... i bet that wiring harness is a freakin mess! too many mods with too many potential issues... no hardtop/hard doors and no bows with what looks like a factory softtop truck (unless the soft doors and softop are stock ones but i doubt it!)

are all of those extra gauges tachometers?? lol

I would guess 71'ish with some odd mods. I would strongly recommend pulling all the non-landcruiser bling-bling adornments off as they are negative equity... I would say 4 -5K unless the soft top and doors are OEM and he still has the bows. It may be a good candidate for a rebuild, looks to be in fair shape. Good luck with her...

It's pre 73 model. 73s had a gas filler door ans different knobs on the dash. 72 had stamped vent on side of the cowl. Earlier vent that was held on by screws. But not 100% sure this was on some of the late 71 model. But production is between 7/71 and 9/72.

by golly, your right! my 71 has a screw-on vent.
it's march of 71 though, and i have had some dealings with figuring out witch parts i need for my truck.
i think your right on with those dates.

maybe, yeah, i would revise my opinion of the value after reading all of the posts.

Good work everybody. It does have lots of aftermarket issues, but under all that fake bling is an extremely clean FJ40 Land Cruiser body, frame, and mechanical. According to my friend, I should post it on a Chevy car site. The engine was a hot one in its day. Anybody GM savy to id that one?

Really? Why the H3LL would someone tear up this nice rig? Its got a lot of potential and it wouldn't take much to take the bling off of it and bring it closer to stock. I prefer stock but there are plenty of guys on here who have non F motors to boot. Nice rig, try and get a decent price for it

Using my phone and didn't the shifter. Knob that is flat on the top is most likely a Fairey Overdrive. Location is right too.
