Hey all, works been crazy busy this past 3 months so I've had zero fun/prep time. Just now getting my head going on this trip.

Fishing - I have a couple extra fly rods and will lend them out and happily show some pointers. I'm no guide but I fish a lot and am happy to help. Sounds like there's some spots right by camp? Anything else within a short drive to get some nice browns?

CB - I have my Uniden 520XL pro and firestick with a cigarette lighter adapter. I know zero about CBs so I hope someone can show me something about them when I get there. Something about tuning them...? I get power to it, and hear noises, but no one talking.

Pack list - I missed about 30 pages of this thread, and was trying to catch up. Swimsuits, boots, camp stuff. Check. What about fire pits? Group pits, built in per site, or do I need some portable thing? Anyone want to DM me their pack list to get me started would be super helpful.

Trail sign ups - were there trail sign ups that I was supposed to do?!?!? I've done nothing but register for this trip so far.

Packing - I'm taking a family of 4 and a dog 800 miles... and I don't have a roof rack or carrier! Am I screwed trying to pack this up? Should I go get a roof rack right now? That was always the plan, but I got hung up on deciding that I never pulled the trigger. I'm in SoCal - any manufacturers local and in stock you guys recommend?

Thanks!

There is a river right next to camp. It might still be running really high and fast when we are there. Browns are around but most of what I catch around the area is Brookies. If you go up to Clear Lake, then you have a chance of catching a tiger trout (brookie and brown hybrid) There are multiple small lakes within 30 minutes of camp. The rivers/streams are hit or miss depending on the level of mining and poisoning that happened up stream. But there are still plenty of great places to fish very close to camp.

In years past there have been some portable pits made from 55 gal drums. I think lots of people are bringing their portable pits like the Solo Stove Bonfire. There aren't any group pits or site pits and you cannot burn on the ground.

Send me a PM with your email address and I will send you my packing lists.

I have a roof rack but I actually use my trailer hitch carrier more often. They're cheap and available at places like Harbor Freight.

I can help you get the SWR tuned when we get there. It's a matter of shortening the antenna. The unfortunately reality is that with CB you aren't going to get much range, so the chances of catching someone else talking on a CB is pretty low. Even car to car, with a well tuned CB, there is a lot that can reduce it's range. For HIH it works fine though.

You'll need to sign up for the specific trails on Sched.

Also it doesn’t look like we’re going to be able have a camp fire squared away so if anyone wants to invite my family and dog over for campfire time we’d love to make some new friends! All of us are nice and normal!

We are officially in July. Working thru my last minute HIH punch-list.

It's officially HIH month, WOOT!

I finally updated my ADGU SS1 system to include a single drawer, just in time for HIH prep. I've put this off a long time. I'll miss my simple bin setup, but as it turns out, the drawer is probably going to be a lifesaver for our packed vehicle this year.

Here's my punch list so far. Cutting it close! (completed striked):
  • Install Drawer (locked open/close and 100% full extension)
  • Design/Order Fobs for raffle and sale
  • Weld rear bumper mounts
  • Install new OEM axles/hub flanges/misc hardware
  • Install 6' CB antenna with quick disconnect
  • Order YotaMD shirts/hats
  • Design/order obscenely large YotaMD feather flag for camp
  • Oil change
  • Fix vent window rattle
  • Fab/buy Rotopax mount for second swing arm
  • Beer
  • Whisky
  • Outer Limit Supply First Aid Setup
  • Hi Lift
  • Slee Rear diff guard
  • Slee Jac-Kof Tool
  • Trash-a-roo

You should add YotaMD stickers to your hat/shirt order :)

Haha, Instagram agreed because my feed is littered with stuckermule adds!

Consider it done. I'll get stickers as well.

Oh Clear Lake, I can hear you calling to me.

Checked out the camper and all seems well with it. Finally got the trailer wiring/7-pin connector and license plate light wiring finished up on the Bump It Off-Road rear bumper that was initially installed on the cruiser a year and a half ago.
