This is probably a dumb question, but I've searched all over and can't fricking figure this out. No wiper fluid comes out when I hit the button. I've filled the reservoir with wiper fluid. There is no sound from a wiper fluid motor, which I'm not sure where it is anyways.
I was looking at the front hood/windshield, and there is no nozzles where any fluid would come from anyways, but there is an obvious nozzle on the rear window right by the rear wiper, which no fluid comes out from either. I'm a new FJ60 owner, this is my first one.
Help!!!

Front nozzles are hidden under the grill just in front of the windshield. Front reservoir is on passenger side at the rear of the engine compartment (assuming 60 is in the same place as 62). Pump is on the bottom of the reservoir. Rear reservoir is behind your driver's side rear quarter panel interior trim, and that pump is actuated from the rear wiper switch (on a 62 anyway).

Thanks! I just bought my first FJ60 as well and was wondering the same thing
FJ60.webp

Pump motor could be fried or more likely just a bad connection at the pump motor.

Locate the connection at the bottom of the reservoir & check it out w/test light. When the motor pumps it's very easy to hear it.

The little motor can be had from autozone etc. but I would also replace the rubber bushing around it. Have somene turn it on while you go and listen to see if it hums. Mike

Hate to hijack but has anyone one found a replacement nozzle that sprays as opposed to shooting a stream of p**s at the windshield?

my rear one is not working either.. buyin one from AZ.. do ya just tell em what its goin on or is there diffrent application they will understand... ( our local az sux)

its probably clogged at the screen in the bottom of the reservoir or the metal nozzles

thanks for your help guys, got the Taap wiper fluid pump today from Autozone and put it in, cleaned the nozzles real quick with a safety pin, and boom! Those things squirt far! almost go up and over the windshield.... haha
It was a burned out Toyota windshield wiper fluid pump after all.
appreciate the responses for help!

I thought mine was fried too but I took it apart and it was just clogged up with sediment. I washed it out and ta-da! it works. Probably not as good as your new one.

Mine are ancient and I have to be going at highway speeds in order for them to even squirt the windshield.... usually they just fire straight up over the truck:lol:

DO NOT use a cheap crap Chinese POS motor. Get one new from Toyota (the damn things are only about $40) or source one from a junked Cruiser. I used a Dayco for less than a year in my 62 before it took a dump, so I said the hell with those, I'm sticking with OEM. Put a junkyard one in a few months back and it works as good as new. Much better pressure than the brand new Dayco one too. For ten bucks I got two pumps off junkyard 60s. Something so small, it never hurts to have a spare.

Old thread bump - my pump is not working in the 87 (which just passed smog today - last one it needs YAY!). Would love to have a working windshield washer pump. I've been hunting for used in the parts wanted and parting out sections... little luck.

So what's the part # for the OEM pump? Also what's the part # for the autozone/napa pumps? I may get the chinese one even if it only lasts a year at least it works (unlike mine now)...

bit of an amazon geek - found these:

Trico 11-604

ACI 177111

And not needed but in case anyone finds this searching - one for the rear:

ACI 172872

So any suggestions on which might be best of the first two for my windshield washer pump? or part # for OEM replacement to compare? I'd prefer Toyota, but if the cost is 4-5x the two above i'll probably go cheap and expect to replace it again in a year or three.

thx!

Yeah dude go with OEM. IIRC Dan quoted me ~$30 for a new one. Or just get a couple from NIX99. Aren't they still just outside of Seattle? I know the Lynnwood one went belly up a few years back.

MOTOR AND PUMP ASSY, WINDSHIELD WASHER 8531012130

85310-12130 alternate part #. CDan was about $50.

Ordered. Old one lasted 20+ years, hopefully new one lasts as long or longer. Also got a new rubber grommet for a buck more while i was at it. :)

thx spook! twice the cost but should be an easy swap - didn't like seeing the splice connectors on the ones i found @ Amazon.
