its 5:59 am and i have just sat up the entire night reading this thread. Skinner, awesome work, great read. i feel so inferior. i just blacked out my front grill last night on my 85 60 and i thought i was doing big things. i bought new clutch today which i will put in next week. congrats on all of your life success with biz fam and LC. i will keep checking in for updates. And one question for you which maybe really dumb but i noticed you've asked for parts from alot of sources. do you use SOR.com (SPECTOR OFF ROAD)? i live near them so im in there shop all the time but they have every part you could ever need for our trucks. some times a bit pricey but they always have it. for instance when you were looking for the door. Im sure they (Spector Off Road) are watching this thread...

good luck and keep entertaining us please,

Man..speechless... I am speechless, which doesnt happen with me all to often. Congrats on the little girl. Life changing. Enjoy every moment, before long shell be up runnin around and back talking(ask me how I know) Your build is phenomenal, these rigs seem to inspire the mechanic in all of us. Baby steps for me. Once again Congrats.

So how does one keep burp-up off of a freshly prepped paint surface anyhow?

Which is worse, etching primer or baby poop?

Can she hold a wrench or spotlight yet? :hillbilly::wrench:

Thnigs going good? Get back to work! ;) This way in 3 months you can hassle me. ;p

Great job, Congratulations on your baby girl!

Congratulations! It will only be a blink of the eye and she will be 12 ( or 8 ) and you will be haveing a Fru Fru picinic out of the be back of the TLC with her ( and maybe her sister ). I wouldn't trade it for anything!

I'm back, fellas! Little girl is doing great (growing like a weed) - and it looks as if though work may slow down (temporarily); my Highlander project just launched 10/5, so my hours have started shifting back towards a more sane schedule.

Having said that, I started working on the FJ again this weekend. Took the fenders, hood, hatch, etc. to a buddy's shop where I am going to use his paint booth.

I'm planning on shooting the last coats of primer tomorrow, then it's time for base/clear. . .

Wish me luck!

Good Luck!

Can't wait to see the pictures!

Alright, finished blocking the FJ out (again) last night & took it over to the paint booth this morning. I got everything masked off & cleaned & then laid down 3 more coats of primer. I used "buff" color primer this time to aid in seeing burn-through if I have any while sanding.

On to the pics::D

Paint booth sure makes it easier. . .

I'm going to pick up my base coat tomorrow. I'm still leaning towards the 033 white, however, have recently been considering the T12 white (FJ40) . . . any opinions?

Is that YOUR (own) paint booth?

No, I'm not jealous or anything! :hillbilly:

Glad that you've got a little time to work on your other baby again! ;)

It's actually owned by a buddy of mine. We picked it up from a body shop that was going out of business in Louisville last year & installed it in his garage (he does a lot of custom paint work). Sure is nice having access to it!

BTW, picked up my base coat this afternoon. . .

033 WHITE! Should look pretty trick, I'm going white on the body & blacking everything else out (grille, headlamps, handles, trim, emblems, etc)

Awesome. 033 white is just dirty enough IMHO. :D

Made some progress on the cruiser today. Here are a couple pictures.

Had some trouble w/ my epoxy sealer; ended up with some random solvent pop & then ended up not having enough to do the doors, tailgate, & hatch.

On a side note, I am pretty proud of my first attempt at body work; everything looks straight under the lights. (especially considering all the time repairing dents, dings, rust & grafting on the 1/4 panels . .)
