I was really dreading this part because it seemed like a pain, but this puller kit made quick work of the bearing removal.

Nice work. I'm not looking forward to that myself. I need to rebuild my rear diff because there's way too much backlash.

Thank you! I took it out just to re-seal everything, but it is basically the same amount of work to get the third member out. I just went through your thread, nice score from the original owner
Thanks! I've wanted an FJ40 for a long time and thankfully I've finally been in a place where I could get one of my own. I've really been enjoying it so far. I'm getting ready to tackle all the leaks this winter with new gaskets and seals. I'm starting with my steering box rebuild this weekend and then it's on to dropping the transmission and transfer case.Thank you! It is fantastic to see your efforts and results and learn from this. The videos are extremely helpful and especially when you describe each of the steps, what tools you are using etc. Keep up the terrific work! This is such a helpful resource....

The shocks are in for the lift kit! I based the lengths off the Bilsteins that Redline used in their kit, but went with 2.25 Dirt Logics. Unfortunately there were no options for Resi front and no options for non Resi rear in the lengths I needed. The Resi will be mounted to the rear crosstube on the frame and will be out of sight for the most part anyways…

I got the diff cover mating surfaces all cleaned up and installed a fresh oem cork gasket. All of the runs and imperfections are from the factory, I just hit it with rust reformer and a skim coat of black steelit.

Took a break from the FJ40 madness to unwind in Bryce Canyon for the wife’s bday weekend. The bmw made quick work of the trip and we had a great time out there.

Leaf springs are off. Time to hit all the hard to reach areas with rust reformer and steelit, before I can move onto re-assembly.

Thanks! Those are my Sunex 10 ton jack stands. Kind of pricey but they have paid themselves off on a few occasions.

I’m not a huge fan of painting everything in sight, but the exhaust was looking real crumby compared to everything else. Luckily I had an old can of alumablast ready to go!
