Rear drive shaft pulled, drums & shoes off, transfer case ebrake removed. I’ll be installing a speedi sleeve as a preventative measure, but as it sits there really isn’t much of a groove on the shaft.

Next up will be removing the aux fuel tank to clear up space for the diff cover removal and axle/frame coating with steelit.

Got the auxiliary tank removed to clean up the frame and axle housing better. Hopefully that next batch of parts shows up so I can get the rear axle done!

Also, just like the front I am not doing anything with the shocks or leaf springs. They will remain crusty looking until I get a lift kit installed…

Dirt/grime knocked off, first coat of rust reformer applied, all brake components removed and diff cover off (not easy lol). Thankfully the cork gasket came off in one piece. I hope the third member gasket does the same…

Fantastic work, as always. Bead lock is awesome, but admittedly doesn't jive with the super 70s pinstripe vibe

Thank you! I really hope to get it on the road soon. The rear axle should be far easier to rebuild since there are no steering components 🤞

Nice job so far - rear axle will be a breeze. They are super easy to work on.

Did you also grab 90950-04010? The felt shims under battery tray.

The correct size is NLA but the radiator shims work perfect for it.
Thank you! The factory shims are still in good condition, but the threaded rods snapped off the mount when I swapped out the battery.

Seen all your YT videos on the 40. Always very informative. Continued success to you !
Thank you, I appreciate you watching them! 🤘

Got the battery tray, tie down & wignuts installed to clear up some space off the shelf lol. Then I wire wheeled a lot of rear axle components to prep for a coat of rust converter.

After that I decided to see how hard the seized wheel cylinder would be to rebuild. Luckily one side came out easy and I just needed to take out the internals to tap the other end out with an extension. A quick hone on the bore and everything was ready to be re-assembled with parts from the rebuild kit.

One down three to go!

I’ve been eyeing that Redline kit. I’ll be waiting to see how it looks when you’re done.
Justin was great to work with. I optioned it without shocks, steering stabilizer & brake lines (will be sourcing my own), but everything that came on the pallet looked good!
