Doug finished reassembling the steering column after stripping it down, lubing the upper and lower bearings, cleaned the turn signal assembly, and painted the outer housing and base mounting plate.

Bryan cleaned up the inner firewall that had been stripped of paint from a leaking clutch master cylinder. There was a little rust since the sheet metal had no protection. For now we applied a little undercoating and called it good.

Keep in mind that I plan to strip this wagon bare in two years for a complete resto / mod but just want to get it on the road for now...

My two favorite Pigs so far are yours and Scottryans, and your right about the rockers, they look awesome!

I'm a huge fan of the diesel drive train. I have a 87' GMC Crew cab that use to be a dually but I shortened the chassis and made it a crew cab fleet side short bed.
It has a 2007 24 Valve Cummins with a G56 6 speed manual mated to a Atlas 3 to 1 gear reduction transfer case (Still a project unfortunately).

I own a 77' BJ40, built a few other BJ40's (One with a custom turbo system I built from scratch), and lastly I have a 55 GMC pickup I plan to put a 12 valve cummins / NV4500 4X4 set up in.... I love diesels (Smell, noise, and all)!

Dude! We think alike! I got a 93 dodge ex cab long wheel base with a 5.9 Cummins. I just bought a 76 Crew cab and put in on my running gear. I then got a short box and graphed the Dually hips on it. I haven,t seen another 1st gen crewcab short box dually out there. I guess i'm not the only Pork loven diesel junkie,

You have to send me pics!

I am fully impressed that everything you guys touch reappears sparkling clean and with a fresh coat of paint. Very nice.

Nice stuff Josh!
What are you painting with as you go along and clean things up? I like that color! Are you spraying from a gun or ratlle canning it?

I am using a Rustoleum hammer finish effect that is a dark bronze (Looks like a saddle brown / gray or pewter)... I don't typically use rattle can paint but this stuff doesn't flake like most spray paints. It's very elastic so it won't chip or flake....

Thank you Tom... We take great pride in our work so every part that is removed is fully inspected, rebuilt if necessary, exterior stripped of dirt / rust / debris and then refinished...

I'm glad everyone likes the results of our efforts so far...

Today we were able to finish installing the steering components, horns were installed, radiator hoses were replaced, more wiring, Bryan built a new battery hold down strap, Doug bolted in the rear drive line, and a few other details that I'm probably leaving out.

I spoke with Luke today and explained that I needed the front steer set up for my wagon. He was more than willing to take the Frombe back and exchange it for the steering system I needed. 4X4 Labs is a great shop and I highly recommend their parts if you're in the market for high steer upgrade parts...

Alcan springs told me that I needed to send them one front and one rear spring for specs to build my new springs from. Monday we will be sending out the springs and steering parts, and hopefully we will have this Pig on the road in the next two weeks!

Photos coming tomorrow!

Apron

Sorry, I should have mentioned its the red panel thats already been taken out below the grill. I don't know the correct name for it.
It exposes about 10cm more of the radiator to free air flow.

That part is called the " Apron " Is't the one right onder the grill. I wanted to stamp holes in it. I came up with this Idea after I painted my rig. I'd cut out two nice rectangled slots and tac in some tight expanded metal behind it. That way it wont look like something is missing

Do you have a build thread for your wagon? I saw your video but couldn't find much more besides that...
