Anyone buy a soft top with frame from TROA in Columbia? Any photo of his kit installed ? They advertise on Ebay and the soft top with frame kit is around $4100.

What do you do with these doors when you take the top off? Do they just sit there in the air?

I always run with just the top on and no sides.

Without it looks like this

Jeep bikini top only, no rear doors

I was always going to use a truck net 80s style without the rear doors.

Softop frame with no top at all.

Hello,

It is better to take them off once the top is removed. Even the user's manual advises against driving with the rear doors on after removing the top.

It is also possible to put in doors with removable windows, but those are hard to find.

Your rare bird top's side windows appear to be of the easy-to-roll-up type.

Colombia-spec 73 Series have a bolt-on bar to secure the side windows, as a theft deterrent measure.

I am hopefully installing an aftermarket soft top on my KZJ73 later this week and will show some pics . As someone who has been driving 70/73 and 74's for almost 35 years now and having had the opportunity to own at least 5 different soft top models on this including oem I can say that the one I have now is my favorite . I have already contacted a local company that does custom interiors on boats and classic cars to reproduce it as I believe that the top I have must be at least more then 15 years old already . While the oem top gives that classic look it is complicated and not user friendly plus the rear has no roll up so your doors are sticking out like dumbo ears . I prefer to have one with half doors and a rear window that can be rolled up . Talking to the local company it seems that if I can get a group of 10 orders together these could be made for around 3500$ , not cheap but these guys do awesome work and will start from scratch perfecting the top I have now.

Plans have changed again and the little “not a real cruiser” kzj will be going with me to ride the Rubithon so it will be July before the soft top gets installed .

Here are some pics of the BJ74 with the top on it when I found it

When the top is off, your roll it up and stash it in the back?
I need to replace my custom top soon.

I haven't gotten that far plus here in Tx it's nice to leave the top part on and just take all the widows out . This top has the slide in front mount like the oem and I think those are very inconvenient, if it comes down to reproducing these I want the front mount to be like a besstop that clicks in rather then dragging the entire top over the cruiser to get it on the windshield frame .

yes, the top I have now has a channel across the front and requires dragging.
I have a Jeep shade/mesh bikini thing under the convertible top.
I do like the way mine folds back without removing the canvas material.
