Ran across 3 brand new 70 series on the West side of Columbus today. Still had the plastic on the seats. Fully equipped with a Safari Snorkel and ARB roof rack. BFG still had the nubs on. Had to stop and gets some pics.

love the upside down steering wheel! keeps the test pilot on his game

What's the hypothesis here? Government trucks?

No stereo, aftermarket wheels, front seats, center console with comms and electrical panel in glove box. What's the deal with the ignition on the steering column?

They are for a defense contractor in town. Basic UN white. Guess they don't want their contractors to get too comfortable. Like to put a GPS tracker to see where they end up...

Wonder what transmission they run. The shifter location is different to all AU spec vdjs. Hopefully not an R series box.

It does look like the R series box. I've driven both variants recently and thats where the R series shifter is positioned.

Whats throwing it off is the hood scoop; it is indeed narrower than the 1VD scoop.

With the Safari snorkel, I am guessing it could be 1HZ Safari turbo'd & intercooled, hence the aftermarket scoop.

Cool trucks, no doubt getting plenty of looks!

I am interested in knowing more about those rims.

More I look at these trucks, I’m thinking they might even be electric 76 series trucks.

Hence the lack of key cylinder ignition as well as the warning on the glove box regarding the electrical behind the door.

I’m thinking they might even be electric 76 series trucks.

With aftermarket snorkels? But I cant see an exhaust pipe. Its usually on the LH side.
Maybe the Safari snorkel is attached to the 1HZ Safari Intercooler.

Looks like full time drive flanges on the front and some sort of track widening hubs on the rear, maybe?

I’ll try to post some more pics from the back to see what side the exhaust is on. Don’t know if they will show up. When I went in to ask about the Land Cruisers, the store manager said:”What Land Cruiser?”. When I told him I only wanted to buy one and not all three he lightened up a bit and told me who they were for. He said this was not the first batch he worked on for them. They get full undercoating before the tires hit the sand.

Ask him what those plates with the 2 bolts are on the LH quarter. Looks like somewhere a step to the roof rack goes

Nice 110 outlet down to the left of the glove box. I find more and more as I look at the photos.
