It is a 2 leaves suspension for Japan only (comfortable version), standard 7 leaves for the World

4,200,000JPY excluding tax in Japan it's 27k€ sale price, woo!
If you consider custom duty + VAT in Europe that would do 35k€ potential sale price (probably a little more with shipping but still a great price) !!
And lockers are included for this price!

Only the GDJ76 for Japanese market, not other form factor :(
No news of a potential EU market :(

Another interesting video with a short interview from Mr. Suzuki, developer on the new 70.

You can get what is saying using the auto-subtitles from Youtube + translation to English. Not working that great with Japanese but maybe get 50% of what is said.
Second method is to use Google Lens on complementary info written on screen.

Very nice piece of technology but seems they haven't thought that we may want to save the translated image somehow... so sorry for the crappy screenshots...

Boohoo , maybe they want to close the doors on the 50% of dealerships they still have left in Europe since the booming 80's and 90's , soon kids growing up in Europe won't even know what a toyota is ;)

For me the front design is a bit strange. The bonnet is too big in front, the turn lights are too far from the grill, and the “ananas cut” lamps looks a bit funny. May be Toyota can thing about small changes?
Only ideas…

Lets be honest....this is a function of regulatory agencies in various countries

Didnt the EU recently pass a ban on internal combustion engines ?

From what we know this new version of the 70 should have everything to pass regulation in the EU (euro6 engine + mandatory ADAS + some pedestrian crash protection).
Now that doesn't mean that they see a market big enough or that it is in their strategy to bring it.

The ban isn't before 2035, you know in 12 years from now. And current version is a ban on the sale of new fossil fuel engines, which means if your engine is 100% compatible with a synthetic fuel it would not be ban, which is a giant loophole.

Its true that the ban isnt immediately taking place but this one piece is part of the larger regulatory puzzle that is punitive towards ownership of larger vehicles

Between astronomical taxation of fuel to tolls to the increasing movement/implementation of prohibitions on vehicles in city centers to increasingly limited opportunities to get off pavement in western europe.

Personally I would buy one in a second and could care less about the hood/body changes

^^^and now available in ALL the countries!

I got that but that does not explain why the 80 series would be more a LC than the 100.
The 100 is a majestic Land Cruiser.

The Land Cruiser never was a vehicle for entertaining rock crawling. As the name suggest the target is to carry things or people far away over any terrain. And for that mission when carrying people an IFS is very well suited and offer a lot better road behavior/safety. Even allow to drive faster on pistes than a front axle.
Keep the rigid axle and leaves for the utilitarian versions that needs to be cheap and will often be overloaded.
I literally just bought a 1999 UZJ100, it got dropped off today and even I will tell you, the IFS UZJ100 can not nor never will hold a candle to a solid axle FZJ80. The FZJ80 might be the best wheeling publicly available 4X4 ever, it's between that and the First Gen. Bronco (solid axles/coils) NOW, if we are talking about 105's that's a completely different conversation.

I have to say it is growing on me. Definitely wasn't impressed by the first couple of photos I saw, especially the side profile. I realize that engine bay space was probably a consideration, but if they had been able to shave a couple of inches off the hood height it would be a lot better.

I do appreciate the nod to the narrow nose 70's: round headlights, side mounted turn signals, narrow, square grille and lower valance design, and the shape of the front fender flares. The 4-cylinder diesel is by no means without precedent in a 70, and although it will lack the sound and grunt of the V8 I would imagine fuel economy will improve significantly. I am sorry to see the manual transmission being replaced with an auto, though.

Any info on whether they fixed the rear track width issue?
