Front door windows, latches and locks are in all new hardware. Also the side window with Sika 221. Waiting for some wool sound insulation for the inside firewall. After that is electrical.

Not sure how to finish the side windows inside window sill. My thought is to fill it up with acrylic water proof caulking material that is gray as the interior, or just paint it with the body color. Otherwise the finish looks very crude in my opinion.

I was considering the explore glazing windows, can you post some photos from the inside?

Sure. In Hawaii for a week. Troopy gets to rest. I like these windows. Got them from Alex at FitGarage all 4 for about $1K. They recommend drilling and screwing. I did not like that so I used Sika 221.

The inside the 70 side windows is very ‘rustic’. I’m planning to fill the gap with acrylic caulking like a bathroom. Either color or paintable. At Home Depot they matched my color with DTM.

Give me a week for the photos.

So some bad new and some good news. I am pulling the drivetrain out and swapping the engine.

I just came across a 1HDFT that a good friend sold me. Less than 100k miles. Could not resist. Would be nice to have both 80 and the troopy with the same engine. I know it's a bit insane, but none of us is really normal people...

First photo is the 1HDT that is coming out.

This weekend I spent doing little things. I’ll change some connectors to Deutsch. I’m missing the mating connectors to some harnesses and have unlimited supply of all Deutsch products. Also a $1500 crimper that kept after a project ended.

I can’t find the two hoses that come out of the evaporator in the firewall. We are machining the nuts and tubes that fit there and TIG weld it to crimp fittings.

I am also missing the harness that connects to the two connectors in the evaporator and the AC controller. I have an after market evaporator and debating to use it.

One of the spider bearings in the steering wheel is ‘loose’ so I have to deal with that. But then again… I asked for this project.

Front photo, it looks like a pirate with one headlight. 😀

Struggles with the fenders to line up with the doors. Spent over a day, and I'm still not happy. 1HDFT arrived to Stockton from TX and I should pick it up or a friend will bring it over. New turn signal from Japan, and still waiting for a few electrical parts. A friend machined the nuts and inserts for the evaporator threads sticking out of the firewall. The bigger one (22x1.5) is impossible to get so I think he made one better then OEM (stainless).

And.. I replaced the bottom end of the rear spring supports with a much better product than OEM. It adds more than an inch of clearance with the treads pointing up. And... got from a dear friend a set of OEM wheels that came out of a 70 series. Not sure from where... Tires will be replaced with 295/75R16 KO2.

I did but am not happy. I think the panels are a bit warped. I am getting new ones. These were rusted and patched. For now they will stay until we get and paint the new ones.

I’m so excited. @kelly saad used his magic and created a grill for the 70 narrow nose. This should fit the intercooler radiator. If this prototype needs adjustment I’ll pass it on to Kelly so he will mod the drawings. I think this would be a fantastic option to any that wants to install an intercooler in a narrow nose 70 series. I could not find anything that looks OEM without major mods.

I may change the center piece to a different shape similar to my 80 series.

I've been waiting to see what you guys came up with. Looks great. Which style of turn signal/marker lights does the grill match up with?

Flip the grill so we can see it :P I was debating if I would used an intercooler on my build this was an issue... Keep us posted :)

Kelly has dimensions for both. It’s a minor change.

Tommy, im not going to let you drive without an intercooler and turbo. 😂
My friend Brian has an adopter on the 1HZ stock exhaust manifold for a turbo. He made a bunch of them.
