I'm looking to swap out the stock front bench with 2 bucket seats and hopefully a center console/security box between them. I don't want to fab up my own brackets, so i'm looking for a bracket I can purchase.

From searching this forum I've found the Corbeau and Scat brackets and seats.

From y'alls experience and knowledge, is one better than the other? Only thing I've found so far from searching is that the Corbeaus Baja SS seats aren't the best quality and show signs of wear fairly quick.

I can't find any brackets for the center console/security box for the '70, so I'll have to make my own brackets for the that.

I put a set in a 78 a few months back, here are some photos. Mounting was easy. I ran a set for years in an FJC. Other than wear on the bolster getting in and out they were fine. I have no experience with the other seats.

Not thinking about the junkyard? Seats from a 2000 or 2001 Audi A4 are really nice, and have seat heaters.
Wouldn't I have to make brackets for those? I'm limited to what I can do in my garage (only metal fabrication tool I have is an angle grinder) and the custom shops near me aren't cheap. That's why I'm looking at buying brackets and seats so I can do an easy bolt on.

Yea, you would. I wasn't really reading that part of your question, sorry. But this VVVVVV.

I would go with the SCAT bracket because their Procar Pro-90 seats look just like the factory ones.

Amazon.com: ProCar by Scat 80-1300-51R PRO-90 Series 1300 Black Vinyl Right Recliner Seat with Headrest: Automotive

Nice find. Those are almost copies of the originals and cheaper than new covers and foam.

No offense to NCFJ, but I don't like the look of the Corbeau seats at all. :meh:

Those look slick!

My main concern is fitting the center console between them. I've found a lot of posts (and brackets) for '73 and up but none for the '70. I guess now it's up to deciding which seat I want.

They are comfortable once in them. I am getting too old for large side bolstered seats. Somehow my ass drags over them more than it used to :)

Thanks so it looks like you used the universal bracket vs the one for 70-73...as they do not list anything for the 76

I just ordered scat Procar pro-90 driver seat and both brackets...I have seen them before and they look as originals..very comfortable-better than stock FJ-40 seats.More report after I get them...I am also tired of the side seat bump on the sports seats...

Keep us posted with pics and your thoughts on them!

I just received the Scat brackets for FJ40 and pro-90 driver seat...Brackets are well made and with little wiggle of the stock seat brackets they fit OK.Brackets for 75 FJ40 will fit 77 no problem.driver side bracket #81618,Pass side 81619...About the seat I don't know what to think about it yet..It looks cheaply made but is not that bad neither...It looks like stock seat...It is quite narrow so you can fit tuffy console easy..It is quite hard...But hopefully will get softer after use...I raised the front and lowered the back so seating position is OK.I am 6 foot 2 inches and feel it might be a little more legroom, but I just have to live with it I guess.Seat is adjustable only back and forth and recline adjustable,no lumbar support etc...Just plain classic seat...I don't think it will be comfortable for driving more than 200 miles but will keep eye on it...If I don't like it as time goes I will get a different seat..There are better seats out there..Seat looks like picture above in blue 40...

Are your current Rally Seats Procar also? If they are, did you use the same brackets as drnekFJ40 to mount them?

Yes, I have the Procar Rally seats in my rig and I have the same brackets as above, #81618 & #81619. If I remember correctly, I had to drill out the far right holes on the passenger side a little to bolt them onto the OEM brackets.
