Corbeau Sport Seats

I have a pair of these seats with the Corbeau mounting brackets. Its been a while, but as I recall, I had to mess around a bit to get the passenger seat mounted. Also, the passenger seat sits about 1.5" higher than the driver seat. I think they offer a spacer to get the driver seat to the same height. I can try to get some measurements tonight. I did not get the heated seats, but I did get the option for the lumbar support. After the first off-road trip, the bladder for the lumbar support is now diagonal and I have not tried to get it repositioned. I wouldn't order that option again.

Joking aside, I'll have pics for you in 30 or so... moving stuff in the barn/shop for a roller that's being flat-bedded in today.
 
To add a couple more options: have you looked at Jegs low back bucket seats (with or without headrests) or TMI makes a few versions of seats with more or less bolstering, etc. Seat heaters are pretty easy to add, but not sure if you were looking for seats that already had the heaters installed vs doing them yourself.

@ASO544 which Corbeau seats did you have? Did you ever swap back to OEM?

Damn, I thought they sat a little closer to stock height than your measurement. Interesting.

That essentially eliminates those from the list.

@GA Architect any chance you can pull a tape on those seats of yours?

FWIW, I think getting seats that position your butt as low as the stock Toyota seats do is more difficult than one would think. I went down a somewhat similar path about 18 months ago. I asked the ‘Mud brain trust about FJ40 seats. Interestingly, you were one of the folks to chime in. Here’s a link to that thread:

As I posted, I ended up purchasing a set of Scheel Mann seats, as recommended by forum member jomelo. He kindly provided some pics, as well as his thoughts. Based upon the build thread of his FJ40 (as written by wngrog) my impression is jomelo does things one way; the right way.

Due to other project constraints, as well as the complexities of life, the seats have yet to be installed. I will caution you Scheel Mann seats are in the OMG expensive category. As I posted, I can suggest Metal Tech in Oregon as a great source to buy from. Outstanding customer service, and they offer a military discount. Living in Montana it doesn’t help you, but no sales tax in Oregon.

On a different note, I'm in the process of reading your build thread from the beginning. I’m up to about page 70, and I’m enjoying it greatly. There's great information there, but the story is well told, and that’s an altogether different skill set you’ve mastered. You’ll be glad to know that as I’m reading, I’m having an occasional beer in your honor. (And not cheap beer at that!)

Thanks for the compliments on the thread! It has been a wild ride to say the least.


I have looked at the Sheel Mann seats several times, unfortunately I'm not going to be dropping several thousand dollars on a pair of seats for a rig that gets used like I use it. That is one of the reasons I've been leaning towards the Corbeau seats, they seem like a pretty close match to the OEM seat height, and I can get ass warmers installed from the beginning, all for under a couple thousand. Even less if I went cloth.

It sure would be nice to drop the SM seats in, but for that kind of loot I'd rather buy several sets of skis, a couple fly rods, and a NRS raft with a fishing frame.......


I haven't even mentioned what my wife would say about dropping that kind of coin on that old green box that I'm always working on!

Well crap, that's pretty on par with the OEM height.

Can anyone tell me with 100% certainty that the Corbeau sport seats fold forward?
