Here is a few of pictures of the seat frame for mounting aftermarket seats in a FJ40. Its in kit form.

The back bar will be in two pieces one with a insert tube welded for alignment. The front bar will be in three pieces also with insert tubes welded. This way I can ship it flat and thats cheaper. I'll include four cross bars coped on each end. 12 tabs for mounting seats and center console box. 10 tabs for mounting a two 5 point harnesses. 4 tabs for mounting the frame to the floor and instructions.

Picture three is the kit.

The last picture shows the mounting tabs I welded them to a piece of the slip tube so you can bolt it to existing holes to start with.

You should not have to cut anything, you will need a welder.

Yes it will fit a '79 fj40. I make them somewhat custom so that it will fit any year cruiser. Even with custom adds like FJ60 parking brakes.
