@cumminscruiser sells a seat bracket kit. It also comes with tabs for mounting a Tuffy console.

For Sale: - Seat Frame for Aftermarket Seats

@IPOR also sells some nice front seats.

Reclining Bucket Seat

Whatever you end up with, just make sure at least one seat easily folds forward if you expect to have passengers in the back seat.

This is all really good info, I've subscribed as I plan on pulling the new seat trigger sometime soon. Thanks for sharing!

Pro car seats look a little more old school, which suits the classic FJ better in my opinion.
@CARiD If you're going to post links to items that you are selling, you should buy a star and support this forum.

I don't see much problem with one, on-topic post. It's not the same as spamming the forum.

So far, 25% of his posts are spam. CarID markets over 9 million products, it's not some small business. He can afford a star.

A lot of good options.

Think I'm decided on going with with the Procar sportsman 1606 seats

which are on amazon for $175 each and free shipping. The Tuffy console/security box with stereo compartment which is around $225 at different retailers (also free shipping) and @cumminscruiser's bracket. Speaking of, anyone know if he is still selling the brackets? It shows he hasn't been online since September, but his site is still up and I've emailed him earlier.

My question now is do I go with the 6.5" or 8" wide tuffy?

I have the 6.5 and I think there's room for the 8, but that's with the Corbeau Moabs.

Has anyone used this seat in an FJ40? I have a 1974 and original seats were replaced with garbage. I think I like the idea of going back with short seats? Any feedback would be much appreciated.
Thanks,

Great information here! I've been trying to decide which seats to run in my 72 once I get it back together!:bang: For the bracket kits we are talking about does it matter that I'm running a rear mounted gas tank??

Thanks everyone

I'm gonna be in the market soon for seats. Mice have done a number on mine, so I'm looking. Part of me wants to go the junkyard route and the other part of me wants something new. How do you like the seats? Do you have a rollcage? How tall are you.

any update on the scat seats?

I am curious to see what you bench seat guys are doing for a bucket conversion.

I have a 1971 FJ40 and purchased the 1970-73 seat brackets from Scat and am having problems. The driver side went in without issue. However the passenger side has no way of attachment. I have relocated the fuel tank to the rear and do not wish to destroy my original bench to make this work.

What have others done with the bench seat? Am I confined to either making my own riser/ seat frame? Or should I just purchase @cumminscruiser diy frame?

When I had the Corbeau Moan seats in my 1970, I actually had a buddy fabricate the passenger mount. It used the two factory holes in front. I’m happy to send ya pics if you’d like.
