I guess a rear step or hitch between the bumperettes....Agri-Supply (our local tractor supply type store) has small tail light brackets similar to the oem toyota brackets for 3 bucks so I might use them and the round lights that fit them....a little bigger than oem but close...

I'm obviously not shooting for "correct" resto but I do want it in that neighborhood....I did the "correct" route on my last restoration and just about lost my mind....I'm enjoying this one more although its only been a month...:)

Went to get tail light brackets that I thought were similiar to toyota brackets and found they werent and wouldnt work...oh well...I guess I'll have to buy the correct lights and brackets...That'll look best anyway...

Going to get Air cleaner, steering wheel, and some other parts from a fellow mud member tomorrow!

So I went to get some parts today....Big thanks to Dbenke! Already got the air cleaner "de rusting" and working on the hood trim now...I don't know if I can get the chrome to work so I'll end up painting it silver/gray/pewter.

The steering wheel doesnt fit...:o Too bad...he didnt know and I didnt know but we tried...just the wrong spline for the '65....So I still need a steering wheel.

It was good to go meet a fellow mudr and scratch a couple more items off the list...:)

Just got some brake parts in so I've almost got it ready for the road...I'm almost ready to install the aircleaner from Shreg...
The hood trim looks good although Its painted siver/gray/pewter...

I've found 5 tie rod ends in the boxes of stuff so I'll put them on tomorrow...They're 3five "555" brand from Japan so hopefully they'll be ok...

Looks great! Might need to paint that seat frame though..sticks out too much inside such a nice rig!

A set of old baby moon T hubcaps...new front bumper and your just about done!

Man, you really made off well!!! You'd better remember your :princess: at Christmas ;)

For sure, I need to show some love to the seat frames, roll bar, and floor.....I'm not sure what to do on the back where the holes were left from...?...lights???? beside the tailgate at the top...

Next will be bumperettes and a step for the rear...

I was happy to get the steel wheels from Toyota...I like that it looks different than what you see around here....

You could put a backup light on the left side.......or the 4WD emblem.

Nice work, great buy.

Maybe paint those rims grey, add the last of the emblems and such, get a OEM softtop from Ehsan and your gold...

Nice paint work btw...

Nope...rims were black until '67...I think!

Here's a really nice picture of a '66 someone had posted up a while back...just love the old stock look :bounce:

Heres what I did for my running boards...

Put the "welting" on with the running boards, tightened a little, pulled down on the rubber to fit it nicely and finish tightening the running board down....Then cut the extra rubber off (the bottom and end).....and pull out the rope so it doesnt sit there holding moisture...

Isn't this going to let moisture collect between the rocker and the rubber sheet?

No...I feel good with it knowing its similar to the fender beading i use on my vw....Its the last place vw's rust...Of course thats not an emphatic NO! but I'm comfortable using it there...Its easy to clean too...

This is also on the "next to do" list...I almost didnt get it....When I bought the 40, the story on the top was "the body shop said it was too bad off so we told them to just not worry about it"...

I called the body shop and it was sitting on a palette in the back with grass growing up around it....It had been sitting there since they painted the rig 3 or 4 years ago....

Dont wanna be a buzz kill here but that may not be the correct top. 65s came with a top with corrugated sides. *disclaimer* there are always exceptions. You will be able to tell by the top rail of the doors....
