I just cant put the hardtop on with the weather being so "no top" friendly most of the time here....The soft top will get me through winter and I can have it off/on a lot easier than a hard top....I can roll up the sides and take out the rear window so its really versatile for me and the kiddies...
So I guess how I'm going to use it comes before how good it'd look with the hard top....
My wife and I both like the hard top look but for functionality, the soft top was the only way to go...

Great post/thread

Great thread. This is my second visit and am glad to see such a good looking rig. I have a 69 I am doing a frame up and a 72 which I bought to drive until I get the 69 done. The doors I got with my 72 are the older doors and the hard top was never put on which makes me think that the doors are wrong for my year. I am going to sell the hard top anyway so it really doesn't matter what doors I have. If you find gaskets/rubber for the wing windows let me know where. Thanks,
george

Awesome job

Not only did you get the bargain of the century, you've done a great job putting it all together. We opted for a soft top as well. We like the ability to roll it all up and make a surrey type top out of it. Nice a lot out in CA too.
Now that you're nearly done, you have to name her. (Maybe you have and I missed it). An old timer told me that if you don't name the land cruiser you will be plagued with problems...

Anyway, great job.

Thanks all...Havent come up with a name yet but I guess I should.....:hhmm:

I have a bit of a problem turning my neck so I mounted a back up camera to assist with backing...I don't rely on it exclusively of course but Its nice to make sure I didnt miss something...

Had a bit of a challenge deciding if I wanted it on the dash or not...Kinda kills the vintage feel, but Its a safety first deal I guess....Anyway, I can plug in my GPS to the monitor when I run the Baja 1000....:)

great thread. I'm looking at a '62 project right now. Quick question, what size were the aluminum wheels and tires it had on it when you bought it? I really liked that look.

thanks

Thanks,
Here is a pic of the tires...I think you can see the size....16 in bullethole rims..245/75/16..Not sure who made the rims though....Another thread about rims/tires has a link for these rims....might come up in a search....

beautiful man!

Very well done.

Are you going to get some period correct t stamped caps from eshlan down the road?
( i am waiting for them to be ready ) ;)

Really amazing shape truck.
I will read through this whole restore thread later this evening. :D

Yeah...I'll get some when/if they're "readily" available.....No disrespect to anyone who's ordered from Ehsan but I've got to wait until they're on US soil.......I couldnt sleep at night otherwise....

Very cool!!! That cruiser is looking better and better with every new pic you post up :cheers:

Hope you remember your wedding anniversary when it comes around...x2 on the cool wife :)

BTW...did anyone ever mention a spare tire carrier? Not many people want those old RHD carriers, so might want to keep an eye out for one...it would really help finish up your already beautiful rig ;)

Yeah - thats a thought isnt it? I do need a spare anyway.....

So the list is:
Front bumper
OEM type soft top/bows
Spare and rack
Soft top Safari rack

Anyone want a C Channel front bumper let me know.....Can't wait to put on an original type....

I would probably make a spare tire (and carrier) a little more of a priority...but that's just me :)

Yeah, I drive it every day and havent even thought of a spare until......now......I probably should bump it up a bit on the list....LOL

Destin, Not really a picture of the rack until I build it.....SOR has a Safari rack for use with soft/no top and you can look at it and get an idea....I'm building mine to suit me instead of buying one...

Jim,
I have a factory right side spare tire carrier. I took it off my 73 when I put the MAF rear carrier on. Let me know if you want it. It is in good shape I don't think it has any rust that I remember. The price would be the amount gas to my house. I don't think that you will find one any cheaper than that, let me know. I an pretty sure that I still have all of the hardware for it.
