Thanks Tucker...I have the hole under those diagonal holes for the front of the running board...Are running boards generally black or body color? I was thinking of doing mine in silver like the bumpers....?

Looks really nice. I'd pull the conferr rear bumper and put on oem lights and bumperettes. I'd also put on an OEM front bumper too.

I'm pretty sure they're not factory holes...just wondering what could be on both the fenders at the rear with that bolt pattern....

I've seen a few rigs with jerry cans mounted in that area. Never bothered to look and see how they were attached though. I would suspect that you would have a few more holes in the rig if that was the case. In 43 years anything could have been there. I've got holes drilled all over my rig, mostly on the inside fender wells and around the windshield. I'm just gonna fill everything that doesn't look stock.

Thanks Rod...The funny thing is that the body shop filled holes like where the running boards mount and the rear emblems go but left holes like those in the fenders. At least these are the only major holes they left....The others are at the rear by the tailgate latches...Not sure about those either...maybe lights were there?

I finished my windshield vent today... The thing was not in good shape and the body shop didnt even bother painting the vent the body color...They actually didnt do anything to it...I'm sure I'll replace it down the road but for now I had to make it work.... I used a strip of steel from Lowes for the top part and shower pan rubber for the rubber part....I'm sure I'll get it painted white one day too....sure....

I just reviewed your photos of the rear bumper. I have no clue what could have been there either. You are missing the holes for the spare tire as well. You have the holes for the latch but they filled the holes for the holder. Those should be easy enough to locate because they are reinforced on the inside. If you need some measurements or photos let me know.

Oh ya. Your vent looks GOOD!

Running boards generally came from Toyota body coloured.

Interesting ... they did not come stock with any welting along the running boards. Looks OK though, maybe they should have.

I had to try it...It finished it up very nicely I think...I made mine out of Shower pan gasket so I could have gray...It was a lot cheaper than buying welting too....

Running boards/ sissy bar

Those running boards look really good. How did you put the welting down. I added a couple of photos of my running boards and sissy bar. My boards are 2 pieces. I'm not sure what goes in between but I was going to look for some rubber material. I also have a picture of my sissy bar. It looks like yours my be for a later model, somewhat bigger than the original. The added notes in the pictures are for my lack of memory as it will be a long time from disassembly to assembly.

My running boards are all one piece...I dont know enough about Land Cruisers yet to know the differences in how running boards might have been different...:o I'll post some pics of how I did the rubber on the running boards when i get home from picking the kiddies up from school...

My grab handle appears to be longer than what originally went on the dash. I dont mind it being longer since the passenger seat is a bench seat...

Running boards turned out great! My 62 had the short 2 parts boards, those are very cool.

Heres what I did for my running boards...

Used the shower pan gasket, length of rope to help form the bead, and Harbor Fright soldering iron to melt the gasket temporarily...

Folded the gasket around the rope to make a "bead" and melted the gasket to itself to keep its shape...

Marked and cut bolt holes...

Put the "welting" on with the running boards, tightened a little, pulled down on the rubber to fit it nicely and finish tightening the running board down....Then cut the extra rubber off (the bottom and end).....and pull out the rope so it doesnt sit there holding moisture...

Of course its a lot easier to just buy this:

Or get it cheaper (price and quality) on Ebay

On all/most? of the items I've installed on the "painted" surfaces I've used rubber/gaskets/etc. between the assemblies...(hood latches, bib hinge, windshield latches, emblems, etc.)

I wanted something to use on the bezel as well....I ended up using "door guards" sold at your friendly local auto part store....available in black, chrome, clear, or.....heaven forbid...gold...

It has a small adhesive strip in the center of the channel but the installation will keep it in place as well....I used the black and it finished nicely.....

Finally - to end the day - I put on the bib hinge and tinkered with the brakes...found out I needed some parts....

If anyone wants this rear bumper for a trail rig or something you can come get it....

Its coming off and bumperettes are going on...

Looks nice. The way toyota did it was there are rubber donut bumpers that go between the bezel and the bib. It keeps the bib several mm off the bib so they don't rub. They are still available from the dealer. I used some nylon washers on the bolts to keep the bezel from losing paint as the bezel is installed.

I knew I needed spacers but wasnt sure if they did indeed keep it off the bib....It was making cars crash in my head with the bezel actually "touching" the bib with no protection..:):)

Love the nylon washer tip....

It's really looking nice. I you going to find a rear step? Are you going to use the 65-67 small lights?
