Cool you going smaller on the tires or fender trim ... The big meats look cool but it doesn't look like it can turn

I love the look of it as it sits now, it gets about 90% steering lock, but any sort of suspension traval and it just jams the tyres up into the guards, I will be putting in the springs from my old fj62 under it, that are about a 2" lift and probably go down to say a 33-35.
But il wait and see how it goes with the little extra lift.
I also need to push the rear diff back an inch or two

so i was working down the shed last week and noticed that the little flap of plastic thats ment to be in the rear vent, had become brittle and fallen apart. so out it comes

traced around th good one from the drivers side onto some alloy i picked up from work

cut out the new one, put a little bend in the top of it drilled a few holes for some pop rivets. put it all togther

ok, so i have booked my engineer to come out and have a look over Bob and give me a definitive list of what needs to be done before he will pass it and i can go and get it regoed. so once that done, its full steam ahead.. hopefully :)

ok time a bit of an update, my thread seems to have gone dead :(
rear bar FINALLY welded up :)

shmick!

pulled all the carpets out in preparation for sound deadening and painting.
this is how they looked mid pressure clean 27yrs of goodness locked deep in the pile

all cleaned up

time for paint

old dash mate from my FJ62

PAINT:):)

Hey, did you shorten it due to rust or was it the departure angle that drove you to customise it? Looks pretty fantastic - considering you've managed to still accomodate everything else - like you're fuel tank etc :)

Good job!

I have just restored mine - from Toyota. Its a bomb, but this might be the last time i'm going to them. I've begun to do things on my own. But since i'm studying, its rather tough to get time to do both.

Also how did the engineer go if they have been out yet
If not let us know how it all goes

departure angle, this 60 actually has very little rust :) i was originally going to build it up for comp, be decided not too, im going to build my suzuki up instead.
yea im very happy with keeping the fuel door, im running a long range tank up beside the rear drive shaft, the space where the original tank was will most likely be used for water and air storage.

i love the colour of yours, looks amazing!

engineer is quiet happy with everything,
body/chassis chop, custom rear windows, turbo, bucket seat conversion, rear bar.

im super happy with the carpets, saved me a few hundred dollars, dont have to get new ones now :)

I bought new ones for mine cause they were completely buggered and only just finished them off time is such a killer but yours is really gonna look mean and worth the time put in

thanks man, i hope so, i love the stance of yours, it sits at a good height, il be putting 2" springs and shackles in mine, well, to be honest, once its engineered and regoed, il probably put the SPOA diffs back under it and rut it like that until i attract too much attention from the police, and then return it to 2" Springs + shackles. thats if i can be bothered to hahahaha

I do love the look of the soa they look mean as and I would love to do it on mine but still not even being on my p plates yet I won't cause I will get way too much attention

speaking from experience, if your going SPOA, get rid of the body lift. my old FJ62 was spoa on 2" springs, plus 2" body, while i never had any dramas on or off road, i belive it is just too big, when my goes SPOA, it runs stock springs, no BL and stock shackles.

Yeah that's all I would do because I only really wanna have 35s to 37s max on mine

couple of little updates, looks like i need to install an oil catch can on Bob, il be picking up me 'new' front seats in the next week or so, Grey leather recaros :)
will have the rear diagonal bracing and fuel filler guard welded up and mounted within the next week.
looks like i have sourced myself a cheap top mount inter cooler, will know more on friday when i try to test fit.
other then that, i really need to get my finger out and replace the rear brake cylinder thats leaking, replace the rear pinion seal thats also leaking, and fit my front tail shaft. i keep getting new ideas on thing i wanna do, but i just need to knuckle down and get the thing on the road, and then i can keep modding :)

ok so an update (if anyone is still following)

i got new seats, not the recaros i mentioned, ut picked up a pair of brand new 2012 subaru liberty seats, using the slides off the new seats and got some rails made up out of 5mm gal, should be strong enough :)

also, rear bracing - done
fuel filler guard - done
rear brake cylinders - replaced
rear seals and bearings - replaced

hopfully on Thursday or Friday, i can pull the front guards off and get them over to the panel beater, ready for painting, i need to find a new drivers side front guard, cos mine is shagged

i will also post up pix of everything that has been going on

Seems too be coming along great mate

Pics are a must!
