Tapage i would be honoured for you to use it in Tencha

like i said in the other post, using that lamp plug lead is great as it gives you 12V power even when the car is switched off

Honor will be mine .. I have one extra blue sea USB available to put somewhere and was just too lazy to wire new circuit from the circuit box .. I have the exact same ( at least it looks the same ) you use but in my case that one is in Marilu ..

That is one of the best looking 60s I've ever laid eyes on. Great build!!

Thank you BlueCruiser84, I'm glad its one of the best you have seen, the more i see her and the more i drive her, the more i love it!
il make sure i post up more pix for your viewing pleasure!

I´m not really fan of shortened 60´s but this surely is the best! Good job!
Thanks HoJo 61, why thank you, happy that you dig it :)

Very nice job. Something to be proud of!

Thank you Reevesci, complement from someone like yourself who does top quality fab work, means a lot,
I have been looking though your vender thread and let me say DAMN i wish i could rock some of your bar work!
if you ever want an Aussie Rep, let me know :)

So decided that i needed quick release mudflaps for the 60 and here is my solution
i used some square plates that i had laying around, as the mounting plate, i uses two existing holes in the chassis rails just behind the rear wheels that were the perfect size to run an M10 tap through, the original mud flap arms where just 20mm square tube (no photos of this), but as you can see now, i have have shorted up the original arm and then sleeved it with a smaller diameter section of tube, i also had this in my scrap pile,

I then used a 6.5mm lynch pin to secure it in place, i haven't road tested these as yet, but I'm be sure to take the 60 for a run this weekend and see how they go

Long time no updates, the mud flaps work great, expect they do need a little tweaking, when the rear end flexes, the tires hit the mud flap arm on full up travel, but its not a major issue right now, so il address that later.

i have had Bob out a few times, no where near as much as i would like, but thats life i guess :(
here are a couple of poser shots from his first outing

the old girl seems to flex ok for leaf springs :) i do have a plan to upgrade the diffs and suspension, how ever like most big mods its going to cost me a lot of dollars to get it done right, so for now the leafs will have to stay

i picked up these cheap, so when i pull the locked centres out of my other set of diffs i have i will be upgrading the axles and CVs at the same time

blew an exhaust gasket on bob last week so have spent this week pulling the exhaust manifold and turbo off to gain access to replace the gaskets.
gaskets replaced today coated them with copper exhaust sealant, and tightens up and left to cure over night, tomorrow morning il fire Bob up let him warm up, heat cycle it and re tighten after the motor cools down, then its go time :)

What an eventful day!
1 - First off had the tail shaft on the work ute come out of the back of the auto, (suspecting failed carrier bearing), so have to get that towed to a mechanics,
2 - Finally get home pack the 60 to head to eastern creek for the weekend, start the car get 5 mins down the road and notice its charging at over 16v (thats as high as my guage reads) then next thing I know, I blow both low beam filaments, so head back home, swap some new globes in, fixed loose regulator connection, then back on my way, with a little advise from Luke Derwin
3 - Pulled into twin servos to grab a bite to eat, get out of the car, then she starts squealing from then engine bay, after a little help from Ethan and Benjiwe work out the water pump is seized.

So know I'm sitting waiting on a car float to take this busted ass cruiser back home.
Massive thanks to Dale for coming to the rescue at all hours of the night.

Gotta get home, swap cars, repack the other car, grab some sleep, then back on the road in the morning to Eastern Creek for Werock!

What a start to the weekend!!

so i now have my radiator out and pulled my water pump, ready for a new now to go in tomorrow,
is there anything else i should look at or replace while i have it this far apart?
I'm going to put new oil in my fan clutch as well,

copper Vs Alloy rads?

Bad day at your side of the planet, maybe replace stressed belt with new and keep old as spare?
I anti rust sprayed some spots that are only accessible when rad is out, replaced old twice repaired (and broken twice at seam) with new brass rad.
Replaced with new hoses and old ones as spare in rear fender (with the old belts  and other stuff)
Maybe reposition battery (if you have 24v) from other side, check engine seal for leaks (don't want to know, I cleaned some old grease but looks fine)
I cleaned a lot of the engine when rad was out, if you want a block/engine heater now is good moment: maybe tomorrow you have a meter of snow :p
Check from radside hole if thermostat is not removed, might replace with new (and keep old as spare)
Mount wheephole at down side

And if you replace the hoses, mine came from down under and I lost them 3 times because they do not grip as the old ones, so ditch the original clamp and replace with adjustable clamp:
At this point I was sure I had a headgasket blow out, last time was 1 minute away in 4000km trip and then finally replaced clamp with adjustable and fine since.

As the owner I am responsible for territory pissing

new clamp, but it is about the cheap laser thermometer that helped deciding it was not overheating, also the meter is first alarm-bell in wheels temp and when one wheel is high it is leaking.

Thanks for the reply, I will be putting a brand new copper rad in, getting rid of the alloy one.

Tstat is in there, but also easy enough to replace after the rad goes back in,
All belts and hoses are only 4400 Ks old,
I know the ac belt smoked to when the water pump seized so I may grab another one of them,
Will check over the front end seals while I'm in there.

Also I only use adjustable hose clamp, I don't really like the spring loaded ones

man that is some territory mark, I hate it when they do that at my place.
I don't know if the spring loaded ones are better, I thought they would prevent a lot of damage if head-gasket fails and exceeds more than 1.1 bar pressure (water-pump, rad damage)
This link is very informative, just found it:
Spring clamps\worm clamps [Archive] - NAXJA Forums -::- North American XJ Association

I also painted the fan shroud when out but mine is not a daily driver anymore so downtime is no problem :cookie:
And new foam tape but that seems just an optical thing, cooling can not really improve with or without it I think.

And you might want to check the belt pulley bolts torque as it was kind of trying to get loose when the belt was breaking (trying to stop it)
afaik the rotation of the pulley makes the design sometimes use counter clockwise bolts to prevent loosening, maybe false idea.:slap:

If the current rad is ok I would keep it, I bought a new big cap for old small type rad, then sold the cap, bought a new rad with big type: had to buy a new big cap again :bang:

Nice painted old rad, failed second time at welded seam next to good weld after 10 minutes :worms:(first idea headgasket was out, then hose blew out.... but it was not broken, drove 5000 km after new rad and clamp fix)
never weld a rad is mentioned many times on the www, I was to cheap, but also experiment and drove 3000km with leaking rad, a bit trough the Sahara , perfect

always buy a new cap with new rad, I had so much fun, really liked to know everything about radiator caps:
