I fell asleep last night before i could post this, but ive got to say... this bracket kit has got to be one of the easiest fab jobs ive ever done. Like my sliders were harder than this. Really got to take my hat off to @TRAIL TAILOR on this. These brackets went on perfect. There’s no mill scale on them. There’s no calculating anything. You literally index them and tack them.
I know the front is easier but as of right now the front is getting close to done. If you had two people you could knock out the entire front in a day. So far out of everything I’ve done this far, axle rebuild included. The new brackets have been the easiest part.
Placing the axle on the other hand. Jesus freaking christ that sucked. you have got to have the axle lined up perfect to get the radius arms to line up and the pinion is constantly trying to swing down and you need it pointed up at a specific angle to get both axle side bolts in. Honestly i probably should have done it the other way around. Put the bolts through the axle side first and then the one on the frame side. The axle is super heavy too and unwieldy.
The Plasma cutter i was using decided not to work so im down to all angle grinder use on all of this stuff. Great.
Everything off the front
Tacking in the brackets
Welded in. The welds arent my best in terms of appearance. Trying out a new triangle shape for vertical welds with a more steep push angle. Trying to get maximum penetration on all of this stuff since its going to have a lot of weight on it. Also, the frame coating does not like to come off. I have gone through so many flap discs trying to get it off.
Where im at now. 80 steering box, Radius arms, and panhard are in
Left to do for the front:
-80 series MC/Booster
-Springs/Shocks
-Frame to axle brake line
-Fill Axle
-Sway bar
