Standing in an ice cold river in bc at painted pots, the continental divide at ab/bc border and then a picture along the road to the sun in glacier.

Top of the world hwy was a fun few hours from Dawson city over to Tok Alaska. Took about 5.5 hours, could have easily spent 5.5 days taking all the side roads. We did try and jump off the main dirt road onto the old sections when possible.

Went and looked at the property today it was worse than I was expecting. Not a thing survived. So wild what fire does. The cabin got so hot that the cast iron pan and stove are now one piece yet 10 feet away the girls had sticks tied to the trees with yarn and it’s all still standing and the yarn is still perfectly tied. Not much green left anywhere a few tops that scorched so will see if anything survives the next year. The neighbors are getting a dozer in acouple weeks to start pushing on there place and will put everything of ours under about 5 feet of gravel and dirt and have new pad cut for the next go around when the times right.

Well damn, so brutal an outcome but again no one was injured or worse so I guess plan for the future.

Looks like an amazing journey with a sad ending, try to stay positive. Buildings can be rebuilt and that forest will come back to life in due time.
Yeah agree but in no way is this the end It’s all part of it. Nothing we could have done and can’t change what’s happened so just moving forward. Just a bump in the road and if you’ve ever driven Alaska roads there’s a bunch of bumps. We will just keep moving and continue the journey of life. Spend a little more time with my pops this trip than planned and see what’s in store next as it comes.

This pig gets me every time I open the doors. So crispy and just not perfect outside then you open the doors and it looks brand new minus the drivers section of the seat. 95k original miles one and half owners. Technically two but was original and then coworker who took over guardianship. Not abused just used. It’s just the problem of what to do with it. Runs drives but needs some brake and carb work as all that sit do. Needs a canoe on the roof so it can sit and look right at home going no where

Drove the 63 40 today for a quick town trip. Forget how much I love that rig when it sits most the year. Was once my daily then it sat then driven regularly then sat for a couple years before driving it up to Alaska now she sits most the time but always fires and puts a smile on the face. The trip into town was to get the girls new rifles today. Left and right handed

Thank you @Ol Yeller for welcoming us into your guys home for the night and breakfast. Was a much needed few minutes off the road to reset for the last leg down. Few hundred more miles today and then start the work on it in the morning to lower it and get under the 7 foot mark for shipping.
